Default Fortress to open for 05/06!

Not that it's th best hill ever, but it looks like it's going to be open this year. Another company based in banff is looking to take it over from RCR. If anybody is looking for a cheap season pass, student pre-season is only $200!

    check it out: www.skifortress.ca

Also worth mentioning is that they plan to re-build the back side chair and are planning to run snow cats up the back in the mean time!

I hear there are plans to open another face as well as build a gondola up to the hill(similar to Sunshine)

Good deal the back side chair was sketchy at best. At $200 you'd only need to go 7 times to make it pay off. Decent.
Wait, Bukkake isn't a kind of Cake!? But I ordered one for Mom's Birthday!

Gondola? Seems like overkill to me.

anyways the road is half the fun going there! plus i doubt they could build a suitable parking lot down there.

I think that road turned alot of people off going to Fortress. I remember lots of comments like, "great mountain but that road up to it is really dangerous". I was under the impression that all the lifts had been torn down, it will be great to see it opened again, alot of amazing terrain up there.

Anyone remember what a lift ticket used to cost before it closed? This is a stellar deal, not sure if I should go with the seasons pass or not, $20 for a midweek lift pass is pretty damn good

Even though the chair will be down, the snow cats will be taking people up, so it will still kind of be open... It will probably take a long time to get up, but the snow will be great anyway! As for the season pass, it's hard to say if it will pay off or not. A midweek pass is only $20, $30 on weekends, so it's not that bad. But $200 is dirt cheap compared to most hills.

Used to go to fort once or twice a year when I was young...don't really remember it all that much. Friend patrolled there though, was supposed to head up on a couple of those patroller only days before it opened to the public - but I cancelled both times....kept getting sick
