Beckham to play for U.S. soccer team the LA Galaxy?

England's one-time golden bar was not only dropped from the national team recently, but now Real Madrid - where he's been playing since 2003 - may be unloading themselves of him.

It seems that David is frustrated that the team's new captain has not been giving him a starting position this season.

And, Real may seek to transfer Beckham in January's transfer window so they can make some money off the soccer superstar while they still have him under contract.

wouldn't be bad for the canadian soccer scene then haha. from what I see it needs publicity to get bigger.

But he'd be one of the most marketable, which will be huge for the MLS if he does decided to go. I wouldn't really doubt it though because it's LA, and that city is pretty much built for someone with a profile like his or his wife's.

true dat, but even Pelé wasn't even able to bring soccer to the American conscience back in the late 70's with the cosmos. It would be a boost for MLS, but America (Canada too) on the whole does not seem to appreciate soccer.

I don't think you could get Americans to fill up a stadium for a football match if you brought Juventus and Madrid to play in New York. It might boost football popularity briefly, but Beckham is probably making the move for lifestyle reasons.
By European standards, he's getting older and deteriorating.
In America, he'll be a star for another decade.

The only reason he'd go to LA is because it could coincide with a new movie career as well as let his wife do more things in the entertainment world. If not for that, he'd just make more money in Europe.

Sorry to bring this thread back, but announced today that Beckham is not resigning with Real Madrid.

Real Madrid sporting director Pedja Mijatovic went on Spanish radio saying that they are not resigning Beckham. To be honest I am glad they are finally getting rid of him and moving to the era of bringing in good young players, instead of keeping the old Galacticos style of buying everyone.

Beckham sucks and only had a good year or two. He kills all flow of the game and can't beat anyone 1v1. Send him to the MLS or the Middle East where some teams will pay him 10 mill a year.
