As of right this instant no, but I am looking into it. As it is right now, I am just helping out a friend with their project.

Yeah, I have talked to both parties, and offered to help out, but I have not heard anything back. It is definitely an eyesore, but I can't touch it as it is attached to the other deck. it leans way over too, I had to push it more upright so that I could install the railings.

Had some fun installing an in ceiling speaker system today!










Installed 4 of these today.

Building a custom center channel cabinet to mount on the ceiling for this set up too!

Did you put caps on the rear of the speakers? It is a fire hazard having the speaker rest against the rear of the speaker.

They are installed as per manufacturer's instructions.

I know for car sub's using the insulation trick in small sealed enclosures can give good results.

Today, I built a new cabinet for the center channel being mounted above the projector screen, you can see it installed in the video. will add some pics of that shortly.

The center channel was supposed to be flush mounted on the wall as well, but with the projector screen dropping down, it would muffle the center channel. So after a brief discussion, I suggested putting it above the screen, and I could build a quick cabinet for it.







First coat of drywall compound is on. First sanding will be tomorrow, and second coat of mud. Once I have it to the way I want it to look, I will cut out the opening for the center channel, and then paint it.

installed the projector today....WHEEEeee!

The string in the picture represents the center line to the screen. This is as close as I could get the lens to it and still mount it to a joist without ripping the ceiling apart to reinforce the area.



And a quick check and calibration to see how it would fit to the screen from my placement. I think it is pretty good, and once we have everything finalized and hooked up, we can adjust keystone, etc...

Latest project for a Beyonder who bought a fridge too big. Ended up ripping out his end cabinet to
fit the fridge, and asked me to make a wine rack for the end, and this is what I came up with.

This was the first day of progress. Built out of 5/8ths MDF, and cut entirely on my table saw.


Took it home with me so I could sand it, prime it, sand it some more, then prime it again. Tried a couple different paints, but nothing was going on the way I wanted it to, and ended up using an aerosol and it came out great!

Test fit, and was completely satisfied how it ended up sitting. Had to shim it up a bit.


And installed, completely finished.

Looks good but why out of MDF?! Seems like you're making life hard for yourself. Plus the dust it gives off when cutting isn't exactly healthy.

It does suite the room. Some nicely stained wood would have looked out of place.

nah, I find MDF is pretty easy to work with. And it blends with the rest of the kitchen. To make it out of some proper plank wood, it would have looked out of place.

but yes, LOTS of dust.

Using solid or veneer woods it can be tricky to get the finshing right when you have that many joints/corners/edges. MDF is much more forgiving because you'll paint it.

Don't have an earlier pic, but this is on a former showhome. Original deck was approx 10x10, and was pretty cramped. The back yard has a pretty big slope to it that runs towards the house, so the yard is pretty much unusable. The home owner wanted to basically have a big of a deck as possible to make the space usable without excavating the yard.

Originally, I was just going to do the deck, and reuse the existing railing, and find more to match. But then the homeowner had some more ideas, and this whole deck was pretty dynamic from start to finish.

Started with having to bring in an auger and dig another 4 more pilings as we extended the deck another 10 feet out from the back of the house, and making it almost 25 feet wide. Made a new 3 ply beam, and then then cut and lengthened the existing beam as there was no ledger board under the large windows.

Then the Homeowner decided they wanted a pergola. Normally I would have had this resting on their own pilings, but it was too late to do that. So I doubled up the 2x10 joists and then braced to the surrounding joists, and a couple carriage bolts in each post. For some reason the original deck was built with 2x10 lumber for the joists, causing considerable cost increases.

Decking done. Homeowner decided not to do railings, but instead wanted privacy screens. I swear, I will never do PT lattice this size again. Shape is constantly changing, super flimsy, and was a bitch to fit into the channel properly. Normally i do smaller screens and this lattice works like a charm. But an almost full shit is impossible. Next time, will be using vinyl.


And All finished! The pano feature on an iphone distorts this a lot. Everything is level!
