That reminded of an experience from about 25 years ago:

I was with my wife who was 6 months pregnant and we stopped at a road side fruit stand. The couple tending the stand were in about their 70's and the lady say's, "Oh, you're having a baby!". I said, "Nah, it's just a tumor", and she literally started to faint. Her husband was right beside her, and held her up, but sheesh, was it something I said

I was insanely lucky for a few years. Won two pretty high end pairs of skis within about 18 months. Used to win so many contests.

Had one 36 hour stretch in university where I got two speeding tickets, a parking ticket (plus a tow) and an illegal turn (technically failure to obey traffic control device). That was the week I started driving like a grandpa.

Got to drive a fully loaded fright train through the rogers pass as a kid, and I have no relatives that work at the railroad. That was cool.

Hah, no, did not steal a train. I'm pretty sure they have some kind of remote shut-down device on those.

    Fully loaded.

The story is basically that my dad and I really liked trains, and camped near the tracks whenever we could. Once day we just drove into Golden and started chatting with the crews and the yard foreman.

Conversation was pretty legendary it went from
"we don't let anyone who doesn't work for us ride for liability reasons"
    to
"you'd need steel toed boots" (which we didn't have)
    to
    "okay, hop on"

My dad, may he rest in peace, had a real gift of connecting with people through conversation.

The whole experience impressed the hell out of me. Trains are awesome.

My Grandpa was the only Canadian diver in the Walt Disney movie "20,000 leagues under the sea."

Todd Bertuzzi bought me a coffee once when he was a Calgary Flame.

I have this uncanny ability ever since childhood whereby I start thinking about someone before they die. For example, Dave Mirra. Always been a fan, but literally days before his suicide, I went on a major Youtube/Playstation binge. I don't believe in co-incidences. Another time where I was talking to some random dude about my favorite hockey players and one of them is Rick Rypien who played on Vancouver. Turned out I was talking to his cousin.

    This is an interesting topic.

    - At age 24 or so, I went back to my home town, decided I want to swim across the river that divides the city, the water is freezing cold, the current took me and the river would get wider (because you usually pick the narrowest point of the river to swim across) but as you went down the river, the river got wider, hypothermia started kicking in and I started panicking until I realized what was happening and this is a life or death as there are small waterfalls with huge rocks further down the river, anyways I became calm and started swimming back slowly, when I got out of the river and realized what just happened I was never the same again and started taking less risk.

I am not implying dumb people go to SAIT, I was implying I limited my self thinking I wasn't worthy of going to University as I never took school seriously, it was more of a reflection of my own capabilities. Obviously I wrote a lot of things in short form so things are open to misinterpretation.
