Neither are my cars, but that's how a lot of people see anything more than like 5 years old. The kind of people that think this is a performance bargain at 60k.
Wouldn't even have to be a modified car, lots of older stock cars can match those numbers for a fraction of the cos t. 996tt, Z06, etc.
Buying a new car just because it has a warranty is what 20-something girls do when they buy Kias and Hyundais.
To clarify, in case the point got muddled, I'm not shitting on buying new cars. However, buying a new car for performance per dollar is just doing it wrong.
Some people like new.

What would be some 5ish year old cars with dual clutch gearboxes, luxury interiors, AWD, and enough HP to put them in the 4 second 0-60 range without being modified or sacrificing reliability? For me, it's the combination of all those things while not being ridiculously huge that is attractive, not strictly the 0-60 time.Originally posted by Sentry

Also I thought it was $43K for the AMG, but is it really $60K? I'd think most people would jump to the C63 AMG, even a "base" model, at that point.
for me its more about the refinement... if i wanted just an all out raw power machine for mid $40s i'd get a mustang GT and strap on a super charger... but then im stuck with a 2 door ford that will get stuck halfway up the ski hill road
with no engine warranty.Originally posted by ercchry

I think $43K is where a fully loaded CLA250 4Matic will end up to be, in the US.Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

I'm sure CLA45, even if it starts at $43K, I can bet it options out to be $60K. Just like C63 starts at $65K but almost $80K when every option box checked.
I can respect that view.Originally posted by Sentry

Moreover, having a warranty for a MB just seems to make sense.Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

How much was your Golf R? It's a totally different segment, but I'm curious where the price gap will be.

Cool, Mercedes Canada's website has a section for the CLA. Fall 2013 for the 250, as mentioned before

I wonder what Audi's S3 will be like compared to this.
Oh my mistake. I misread the model in the thread.Originally posted by rage2

I thought it was the A series 4 door AMG hatch.
That said, the Golf R's are all 4 doors in Canada.
You have the traditional 2 door option in the US.

I think S3 will be here but it won't be competition of CLA45. That will probably be RS3 which I'm 100% sure we won't get or not at rumored price level of CLA45.Originally posted by bart

And since RS3 won't be here til 2014 in Europe, We won't see it til 2015 if we are even getting it, at least a year behind CLA45.
But I think A/S3 should be about a couple hundred pounds less than CLA. It may offset a bit on the power deficiency.
Both base 2.0L units are very similar in specs. So A3 vs CLA250 would just be preference of exterior styling.
