yeah that's definitely another way of looking at it and hence why I didn't jump into the X-series until this summer.

It did look like Fuji rushed the release of the X-Pro1 and X-E1 without putting a relianle AF but TBH from my experience with the X100 with fw 1.02 and 1.03 right afterwards, the slow AF didn't bother me as much as I was expecting.
even now i still wouldn't dare using an X camera for sports

but the colors, EVF/OV and ergonomics of the X cameras is what I liked the most

x0.70 adapter coming soon for the Fuji and Nex cameras that will give APS-C sensor a Full Frame DoF like the Speedbooster.
Compatible with Nikon F, Canon EF and Leica R lenses, don't know if it has AF though

Anyone check out Tamron's new 150-600mm F5-6.3 VC? Price will be $1069. Performance looks quite excellent, for the price. It doesn't extend much while zooming either. Waiting for more samples but it looks very interesting. Tamron usually uses shitty micro AF motors though, so I am hoping for a ring motor in this one.

    Some full size samples here:

I hear the newer Tamron AF motors are much improved, the 70-200VC is supposed to be only a hair slower than the Nikon 70-200VRII.

That is good news. I am interested in this 150-600 if they can beat the IQ of lenses like the Bigma. Tamron's new finishes look a lot less cheap as well (as do Sigma's).

Haha yup. The APS-C MTF's look pretty good too. Obviously not 600/4 quality but better than it should be for $1000. That's 405-1620mm with the FT-1 on a V1/V2 haha.

Should be a very interesting lens, I'm looking forward to the thorough reviews.

Fuck I forgot about the Nikon 1 LOL.. For what, 1/10th the price of the 600 f4..? That's hookers and blow every night for a fucking month.

Sigma announced a 50/1.4 "Art" lens today, likely to be similar to the 35/1.4, which is a very good thing. They are on a roll with these Art lenses.

Their 50 1.4 they have now is pretty good, better than Nikon's offerings (unfamiliar with Canon). Wonder how this will surpass

on the Fuji side, black X100s has been announced, same price as silver one
also 56mm 1.2 R lens announced for the X series, only $999. Everyone was fearing it would be $1400.

quazimoto/pea_soup/fat_kevin/pasty_dickface and I think there were a few others....

I don't think that's his sight, he was pixelsoflove.ca which is now defunct. That pixel me actually has good yelp ratings so I don't think it's him.

The MF thing reminds me of the D800 vs Hassy video TCS made. These photographers justifying a 25k camera over skin tones lol. I must just be blind

Sony A7S just announced. Lower MP count, higher ISO. Damn it, maybe I should have waited.

    Full press release found here:

    http://www.dpreview.com/news/2014/04...k-video-output

Sony has announced the Alpha 7S, a 12MP full-frame mirrorless camera designed for both stills and video. The camera can read out its entire sensor fast enough to output 8-bit 4:2:2 4k video over HDMI at up to 30p, without the need for line skipping or pixel binning. This also promises higher quality for the 1080p video (at up to 60p) it can record internally. Unlike the a7 and a7R, the latest model is not constrained by the AVCHD standard, also offering the XAVC S system, with bitrates of up to 50Mbps.

The camera records at up to 1080/60p internally with 4:2:0 chroma sub-sampling. The higher quality footage is only available over HDMI - to ensure the camera could be kept to a small size. It also offers a 'Dual Record' feature that records both low bitrate 720p and XAVCS 1080p footage simultaneously.

The 'S' in the camera's name denotes 'sensitivity.' In movie shooting, it offers an ISO 200 - 102,400, with extension to 409,600. In stills it offers ISO 100 - 102,400, extendable to an ISO 50 - 409,600 range. The company also says the camera's large pixels will offer good dynamic range, gradation and color fidelity for stills shooters.

The company has also said it is developing a movie-focused 28-135mm F5 Powerzoom lens. Pricing has not yet been announced for either product.

The Alpha 7S will include time code with userbit (user-applied metadata to help at the editing stage). It also includes a range of movie-centric S-Log2 gamma, along with several Picture Profiles previously found in Sony's FS range of high-end camcorders.
