You can put the modem in bridge mode by logging into it.
Your upload speed seems quite slow for TELUS FTTH..

Gives me time to do some research on whether TELUS equipment does bridge/transparent mode as ideally, I'd just like an ethernet handoff as I have my own equipment.

looking forward to the faster speeds
I'm also in Mackenzie and in November switched to Telus for 3 days. They told me pure fibre was available, sent a tech out and couldn't get above 80. After 3 days they determined that there must be a network issue and they would work on fixing it. I cancelled after that conversation because it seemed like I was getting the run around. Hopefully your experience is better.

Was there an actual fiber drop to your house? It'd be funny if they're still using shorter copper last mile runs and selling it under pure fiber, which would explain why you couldn't get full speed.

If you had fiber to your house, there's literally zero reasons for not getting 150/150, especially with speedtest having a server right inside the TELUS network.

that sucks. My assumption is it will take several visits, as they are going to have to trench the fibre into my home from the alleyway and that will require someone else coming out and spraying/flagging the right of way and existing utilities, I assume. Either way, I'll see what ends up happening next week, I'm not cancelling my Shaw until we see how this goes.

If I remember correctly we started out at 50 on our TELUS FTTH and the upload speed was pretty much the same. Just did a test and our best speeds ever on 150...

I was told only 150 has the same upload speed. I definitely have fibre coming into the box.

If telus has knocked on your door, and told you about setting up fibre, then yes you will have fibre to the home and have the 150/150.

    Otherwise, it's shit speeds.

Their non-fibre areas are still advertised with 100mbps sometimes but they're usually the "bonded" dsl.

i've tried that and it was a nightmare.

Only go with telus if they will confirm there is fibre to the house.

Oh and telus reps lie. A lot. I've had reps lie to me about fibre drop and until an honest tech told me that they would be actually knocking on your door to get the fibre to your home.

    Good luck

I'm glad we are finally getting upload speeds up. For so long it was all about download. 120 down!!!! Amazing!!! Up speed? 5.

I'd rather have 50/50 than that.

Uploading photos, Dropbox, and especially video files (2-3 gigs to YouTube in 2 minutes) is the best. Love the 84 dollar price tag for 150. Which I don't even get. I get 175/175 every single time.

This is what I half-suspect they're going to offer. If they say they are going to do bonded vDSL to get me up to 100 i'll just leave it, the point of me switching was fibre straight to my basement.

Telus trenched from my detached garage to my basement (existing conduit had collapsed)... but it did take a number of visits because they don't communicate across departments.

Their contractor also showed up at my house a few times without any advance notice (even while I was on vacation)... damn creepers.

I had Telus on VDSL at 50mbps for about 3 years, was rock solid, so I would say the VDSL solution is still a good one, but fiber is definitely best. When I moved into my house, I saw right away that I had a combined copper/fiber cable in the basement and when it was available in my area, I went fiber, and haven't ever looked back. 150/150 is amazing.

i think bonded is good . i can upload at max without really slowing download unlike cable or single pair dsl.

some telus users said port 80 is now open, it was closed due the year 2000 Microsoft windows bug . is this true is it open?

TELUS showed up last night and got everything installed so we're up and running

Turns out the 'copper' TELUS cable that is coiled in my basement actually has fibre in it too if you peel back the coating on it, I assumed only copper as that's what was exposed when I eye-balled it.

I was on internet 30/5 with Shaw, so much better, will post a speedtest later when I get home but so far so good. Didn't get much of a chance yesterday evening to fully check it out (newborn etc)..

No, port 80 does not work.
