I hear that. If Im in 4th gear on my 525 it means imminent injury or death is about to occur.

As far as I know, all you need for recreational use is insurance and registration. Because these are operated off road, not license is or certification is required.

You dont need registration or insurance if your on a closed course (motocross track for example). But you need it everywhere else.

if its on public land like any back country, mclean, wiprious, they all need to be registered and insured.

Well I think I am going to pick up another quad this week, found a great deal on a Predator. Never had a Polaris before, but for the money I think it's a good deal. I sold my last 2 becuase there is literally nowhere to ride near Medicine Hat it seems. Not to familiar with Calgary or Lethbridge area so maybe some can chime in on some quite camping/riding areas that are not to crazy far away.

I live in medicine hat now, but keep my quads in a garage in calgary. The best riding I've ever done for a sports quad so far is out by rocky mountain house. Went out there may long and really got a chance to stretch her legs.

Head out the Forestry Trunk Road, south of Longview (i.e. Indian Graves, Johnson Creek...). It's crown land so camping is free and offroading is awesome. That's where we've been going.

I bought a Polaris recently and am very impressed, it's the Sportsman 500HO. It is easy to drive, steer and control. Very comfortable.

Looks like you need some better tires! Are they stock?

Yah, they're the stock ones. They do really well, but definitely are not mudders. hence me avoiding the really deep mud.

How do the mudder tires do outside of the mud? Do they make for a bumpy ride?

I don't run dedicated mud tires as they will rattle your teeth out on trails. A great tire is the zilla. It does good at everything. Right now I have swamp lites on my grizzly.

I have Zillas as well. They're rough at slow speeds, but they smooth out pretty quickly. Any time I help mom and dad move cows either to pasture or back home my life sucks though. The slowest I can go is 2-3mph, and even that's too fast. It's only 3 miles but it's pretty agonizing. Bumpbumpbumpbump for an hour.

If I was buying tires again I'd probably go with Outlaw Radials. They're heavier but they're supposed to be a better tire for just about everything.

The zillas are not rough at all... Try out a mudzilla or something like that

I love small towns for stuff like this. Today I went out to the farm and rode my quad into town (about 30km). Filled up with gas, went to the bank, visited some people, had a doctor's appointment. All riding up and down the streets.

It got really cold late in the afternoon and rather than waste time taking backroads I said fuck it and went down the highway. 16km straight with the throttle on the bar the whole way. It's funny that with a quad 110km/hr seems perfectly smooth and stable but with a car, you might hit 80 in some spots and be down to 40 or 50 for the rest. Good old Saskatchewan secondary highways.
