this will be the second blog I've ever followed. Good luck!
FYI, you mention wife headed to lowes... You do know of timbertown right? 12st ne just north of 32nd... It'll be your new best friend - we just picked up a bunch of "scratch and dent" doors there, obscure glass hemlock - 5$ each... (the undamaged versions were 89$). 2 weeks back they had ~40' bundles of builder grade mdf trim for 2.48 (for the bundle, not per foot).
Ok, and now this is a car forum... And its about time you post pics of the garage plans or drag me over there to pimp your garage

Thanks for all the comments!
I can finally breathe a little bit before I get back into the renos again.
I thought this would make a great blog/renovation adventure for some people to read about. I love every aspect of renovating a century old home.
I also love the fact my better half knows how to kijiji shop! (hense the blog name - house that kijiji built)
And yes rage, I am Asian and love blondes!
Some true Asians call me a banana,... Yellow on the outside, white on the inside
Well, I'm back home from the office, I have no scheduled appointments; time to get back to work.
Wifey wants top floor laundry and a cat door,... Laundry will be a fun one!

With an Isuzu Rodeo on 31's he had to be Asian or Afro-Canadian, there really were no other choices.
On topic, while that project is crazy....it is also awesome. High-5 level awesome!

wtf you're asian?
Pure Korean? I always thought you looked like a halfy!
Anyway, I've always been interested in home renos and it's nice to see everything documented like this. Will definitely be following your blog as you progress.

Well on dinner break from doing the cat door, it's already ugly as all heck,... Well the old doors at the back of the house were hacked up anyways.
I am a halfer. The other half being German.
The garage will have to wait until the house is finished, or mostly finished.
It's only a single, but same construction as the house; all old growth cedar.
It will need some reconstructive work though to bring it back to its prime.

I read the whole blog. This looks like so much fun and I'm jealous. I would love to do this with an old house in a downtown area one day. Good luck! I'm following the blog so you best keep us updated!
Any reason you did not fill the old wood floors and re-sand before you stained?
We've done this 3-4 times on older early 1900's homes and they turned out great
"Life is tough. It's tougher if you're stupid."
I thought about filling the gaps, resanding smooth then refinishing. To me that would lose any pure heritage in those floors. At least for now on the top floor I wanted the floors to look as original and distressed/antiqued as possible with a fresh coat of varathane.
I personally love that look.
