Kananaskis/Highway 40/Longview cruise

Thinking about fitting in a drive before I take off the summer tires and the snow starts flying. Fall colours are pretty sweet as well right now, going to bring the camera.

EDIT: Route

Meet at Calaway Park. Time: 10:30am

Take Highway 1 to Highway 40 turn-off. Can stop at Highwood pass or anywhere to take some pics.

Drive to Longview for lunch? Late lunch?

Can go back to Calgary from here, or go through Black Diamond/Turner Valley/Millarvile, up Highway 549/762 to Bragg Creek and then back to Calgary.

Nothing crazy speed wise, just a cruise. Don't need any 200km/h+ hooligans.

The only suggestion I have is that we not meet at COP. Those speed bumps closely resemble the Himalayas. Calaway Park worked well last time.

As for time, if we make the meet for for 10:30, leave by 11:00, we will be in longview just in time for lunch. I am very open to whenever though.

Note for fuel specific drivers: Very limited fuel sources on this cruise. Fill up before leaving, a round trip is going to be 270kms. There is an esso in longview.

I was going to suggest doing the route in reverse. EVERYBODY does the route starting off of highway 1/Delta lodge. If you start off at Longview, then end up at Delta lodge/ highway 1 the traffic is generally really good. Also, they have food at the casino, which we end off at before reaching highway 1.

I've taken this road probably a dozen times this year alone. Its just fucking beautiful in so many ways. Barrier lake near the Delta lodge is a nice place to stop at as well.

Also, that Longview Beef jerky shop is also a really good place to go to get some jerky. I do that everytime I take this route on my bike.

This route is just amazing and I want to come, but have soo much homework

Is it possible to meet 9:00AM, head out by 9:15AM? That way I can come and be back at a reasonable time to do homework.

That's a little early for a Saturday. I'm sure you can fit in a few hour cruise around the HW schedule, we've all been there!
