    Angry PS3 troubles...

Grrrrr..... Stupid PS3's. I love 'em, I hate 'em.

My current PS3 all of a sudden stopped the video feed to my TV. Son was playing a game. Quit. Went back to watching TV. Few hours later, went back to play a game and...nothing. Blank screen, but you could hear the 'welcome sound' at the main menu. Checked the HDMI cable, all good. Tried re-setting the video/audio setting by power cycling...still nothing.

    Anyone have any ideas?

So frustrating how everything is a "bic lighter" nowadays. First PS3 was the 80gb backwards compatible one that we paid $600 for. That died the YLOD after only a year or so. Then bought this "slim" and now IT'S died.

This happened to me earlier the AV the Yellow, White and Red plug the ps3 that way and check the video settings. Just keep changing the settings to HDMI and just keep doing that over and over and that might fix it.

Did you try holding down the power button on startup to reset the display settings?

Nope, haven't updated recently. It was working fine one minute...next, there was no video.

So now I have two dead PS3's. Question is, do I buy a new one, or spend a couple hundred and get both fixed? The 80Gb backwards compatible is kinda handy for the boy as he still plays a crapload of old games.
    *Sigh*....1st world problems.....

If you get the 80gb fixed, there is a good chance sony will send you a non backward compatible one as a replacement, unless you are not planning on using sony for the repair.

Buy a new ps3, prolly easier in the long run.
