Yea, my 300CFM was the same deal when we cooked Chinese food. But my point still stands, the primary purpose is heat removal. 300 vs 600 cfm is going to pull the same amount of cooking oils, smoke, etc. If you truly want to get rid of the smells, get those crazy 1200+ CFM turbo shaped fans haha.
Decided on makes/models, now only wondering one thing: to shell out additional $950 for additional 3 years of extended warranty?
What's Beyond's thoughts on extended warranties?
How many people buy them?
Any experience using them? were they honored as expected?
My Karma ran over your Dogma
I haven't bought extended warranties for anything, and haven't had issues with any of my equipment over the past while. When I worked at electronics stores during university, the push was always on extended warranties because the profit margins were the highest of anything we sold.
Regarding induction, I have had my Samsung induction stove for a few years now, and I won't go back. They are unbeatable when paired with a good cast iron set of pots and pans. Expensive doesn't always mean induction compatible. If you aren't sure, bring a magnet with you. The better it sticks, the better it'll work with induction. It cooks so evenly that I use it to sear my steaks, and finish in the oven, instead of the BBQ. Best investment in the kitchen next to my Vitamix. Will ungrade to a nicer induction set in my next house.

Thanks for the reply. Re the Samsung induction range, the specs call for 40 amps, but the sales guy recommended 50 amps.
Question for induction users out there: how many amps does your stove outlet have?
Anyone experiencing problems with only 40 amps?

It really comes down to a question of value; if the extended warranty covers all the appliances you bought, and includes things like them sending someone out to grab the broken appliances, that could be worth its weight in gold if you are a busy person and/or earn a decent $/h.
The manufacturers already include a warranty. As the other poster stated, they earn a lot of money off the additional warranty, but it may come with some perks that warrant it depending on your situation.
I myself would not get it, but I have a truck and it doesn't hurt my feelings to load up a fridge and truck it somewhere Appliances are pretty darn reliable, dishwashers seem to have the highest failure.
Yeah, the industry has made appliance disposable now. My appliance repair guy said his business is winding down on appliances that were sold in the last 10 years as parts cost is too high for anyone even to entertain repairs.Originally posted by HHURICANE1

Nobody is willing to pay $200 + labor to fix a $700 stove.

Samsung stove is fine. Samsung fridge is mostly fine, for the last year and a half the ice maker is freezing. Seems to be a common problem that eventually hits every single fridge. Been defrosting it monthly until it finally gave up completely.
Called Samsung for repair, they offered to fix for $350. Told them we'll talk to the lawyers doing the class action lawsuit. They offered to fix it for free now. Sweet.

can still get one at ikea for 700 lol
samsung going strong lol, i had my kitchenaid fridge fail at 1.5 years (sealed system, took about 6 months to get a new one, they kept trying to fix it by throwing parts at it) and then dishwasher drain motor went

lol that $700 one was the same one we had in the house.
Samsung sucks donkey balls… on my second Samsung fridge in 6 years and we have a Samsung stove that the repair guy might as well live here … I will never buy Samsung again
15yo LG fridge with no issues or repairs yet. Ditto the 8yo Electrolux induction/convection stove. We're on our second Bosch dishwasher in 8 years though.
I think the Inglis washer and dryer are over two decades now without much fuss either.

Bought a new maytag washer and dryer. Dryer motor went 3 months in and it took 2 months to fix after fucking hounding them
I'm going back to buy whatever is cheap and throw that shut in the garbage
Aside from the ice maker, I'm surprised the stove and fridge has been great. 8 years, with all the horror stories, I thought I'd be replaced by now but nope, all good. Since then we got a new dishwasher (Samsung) and washer (Maytag). I mean this new shit is fine, but it sucks compared to the old stuff. Washer takes way longer and uses less water and shit sometimes isn't fully clean, dishwasher same thing, I have to scrub hard shit before it goes in. I miss the non efficiency shit where it just floods the wash with extremely hot heated water and gets shit clean. Caked on cheese? No problems, this 10 gallons of 100C water will melt that shit right off. Energy saving shit is ruining everything and who knows how much it's saving when I have to rewash shit all the time. And manual labour before loading into dishwasher. At what point do we say what's the damn point?

Agreed! Our dishwasher rarely actually gets the dishes dry because it just doesn't run the element long enough in an effort to be more energy efficient. Its a piss offThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Try a different cycle. Only the default cycle requires energy saving measures.
