Default what do you get a lawyer that just made partner?

An associate that does work for one my clients (and works closely with my group), just made partner at a large national firm.

I'd like to get him something nice as a gift. Maybe a couple of hundred bucks. What do people get? Cufflinks? I could send him Scotch, but I did that a while ago.

I know we have some lawyers here. What say you? Is there something traditional?

I’d get dinner reservations at a fancy restaurant and make him pay. He’s making bank haha.

I like cuff links, tell him to start wearing wearing French cuffs every day to show those associates what’s what.

But maybe try and be creative with the cuffs?

For a couple hundred bucks? I don't think ajax and a Morley gummer special would be appropriate.

That's a suitable gift for all occasions.

Some family pictures for his office, he’ll never be home anymore.

Working 80 hours a week lol.

A Montblanc pen if it’s in the budget. I have a few and really enjoy them, but I have only ever gotten one as a gift so far but of course a majority of my clientele are different than usual corporate clients. If it’s strictly under $200 then a nice pair of cufflinks. I always wear these when I have to robe-up for Queen’s Bench. Not sure how often your friend goes to court so it may not be as usable for him but can’t go wrong with that in general. A nice tie is always a good idea for a lawyer. Other than that, a nice office decorative set or something that can be placed in the office.

Fuck I wish I had clients like you.

I want to say I recall seeing them at CJ on 17th. Granted that was a few years ago that I was last in the shop.
