then people will just keep bumping them right before their 150 days is about to expire...unless there is some way to make it dissapear from the original post date?

Well, keep in mind that someone looking for a car will likely have seen your post. Bumping it every day doesn't do much for you at that point.

Don't forget to utilize your sig if you have threads in the marketplace

once a week is a bit excessive though, the more the site grows, the more things get posted in the marketplace, the easier things get buried. were there any rules of the marketplace that should get revisited with the growth of beyond, that would be the reasonable choice.

If other people don't keeping bumping their own threads everyday or posting useless things in others, it actually won't be that bad. It only takes a handful of "popular" threads to make other threads fall back quickly. You'd be surprised but it's all the post whoring in a handful of threads that make everything else get pushed back.

If you want more traffic for your ad, post a link in your signature. You'll get more exposure that way.

Naming your threads effectively will yield better search results too. For example, "FS: 00 Civic" is really limiting what people can search for. You can fit a lot of information in the subject line of your thread, so use it: "FS: 2000 Honda Civic Si 6th Gen Coupe Silver". Even better, try covering all the basis on what others might search for: "FS: 2000 Honda Civic Si 6th Gen Coupe Silver sixth generation 2 door 2dr 2door 00". Sure, it may look like a funny title, but you're maximizing your search possibilities.

Also if you're selling multiple items, keeping them in one thread. Each one-thread-per-item posting pushes another down the line. So if you're selling 3 things in three different threads, each bump pushes three others down. Show other forum members some courtesy and keep your stuff together when possible.

I agree with that D said, but I wanted to add that if everyone bumped their thread every day the result would be the same as bumping once a week anyway- considering that your thread would be bumped to second page or lower within the day.

Alright, so after a user hits the magic 90 mark, are mods going to continue deducting ratings?
If so, what penalties/bannings will occur?

This is good. I suspect the user rating system wasn't utilized fully or properly in the past where users were outright banned where a cut in their percentage might have been more appropriate.

why not make the marketplace like the member's ride section so you can't post unless it's your own thread?

We can. Depends on the circumstances

Bannings can still happen anytime, regardless of user rating.

what is the weighting of the rating system. ie how many nuked posts to get below 90% trader rating?

can a user ever re-gain access to the market place?

I agree with gpomp, could we not make it similar to say, Kijiji, just as an example, only the seller can post in there for updates, any questions should be routed via PM, it would save sifting through all the ads because so much stuff gets bumped back so fast because of bullshit posts.

If you are below 90, do those negative points ever expire? or are you gone for good?

I agree. And since a very small population of beyond is actually interested in any given car there wouldn't be too many PM. Another point is it would force people to make half decent FS threads if they don't want to answer PMs.

Simple answer people. If you aren't buying, stay the fuck out of FS: threads that you don't plan on buying from and you won't lose points.

Why is that so hard to comprehend?
