    Default Anyone collect hotwheels?

Just seeing if anyone else out here buys one for their kid/niece/nephew and then gets one or two or 20 for themselves :P

I collect them! I can't go in a grocery store without heading to the hotwheels shelf.

If you see a carbonator buy it because it's a bottle opener. What do you all collect? Just what you like or anything specific?

Nice haul that chev truck is an error wrong way in the package. We don't get many supers in Canada because the low wages in Malaysia so they steal them to supplement their income. The regular treasure hunts are easy to find so don't expect much from them. The Sesto is nice but I'm waiting for the next color wave which IMO is way nicer (I still grabbed two lol). PM me if you want me to learn you how to optimize your hunts.

I used to, I bought my kid so many as well everytime we went out and saw them, I would buy some. He probably has 200, plus I gave him my stash. all opened, played with and becoming worthless.

I have a few in my cube, I just pick up cars that interest me. I have been debating on whether or not to take them out of the packaging and making a parking lot in my office, but the general consensus is to keep them in the packaging, I have:

    2 AE86s
    Toyota FR-S
    Toyota 200 GT
    Nissan Skyline GT-R
    Ford Fiesta Ken Block Edition
    2 Ford Gran Torino
Lamborghini Aventador (neat matte black paint)
    Datsun Bluebird 510
    Lotus Evora
    DeLorean
    and a 1970 Toyota Celica

the good thing is, I work in Automotive Marketing, so it's all work-related decor
    I like things with wheels.

Recently (probably about last year) I have started buying them, it started as OP said, buying some for the little cousin. Then I kept looking through the selections and realized theres TONS more real-life make and model cars being produced now than when I was a kid! That's where it (re)started I guess.

I used to have a massive bin (about 3/4s of a garbage can) full of them when I was a kid, my dad would get me one once a month when I went to the grocery store with him, then my mom gave them all to the salvation army one day in a fit of spring cleaning without telling me (worst day of my childhood). I moved on to 1:18 scale die casts (Maisto-Bburago) and still have lots of those, post a pic when I get home.

I come across these a lot on my weekend hunts for Transformers and when I hear them ask about some of the prices, they're selling some of them for a couple of hundred dollars. Last weekend there was a guy oogling one because it had both surf boards on the roof, apparently they're normally lost or broken. I don't get it, what causes certain metal cars to be worth money and others not? It doesn't make any sense to me. I was trying to dig through his N64 cartridges and they wouldn't even move, they were in some sort of Hot Wheels hypno-trance.

I had a couple growing up but we never called them Hot Wheels, we just called them Dinkies. And the only thing we did with them was stand across the room and see whom would make the other bloodier by whipping them at each other, then we'd bury them in the yard and leave them out there for 2 years. I remember I had the little white Ghostbusters car, the Dukes Of Hazzard and the KITT Car. Beyond that I just remember boxes of metal cars that all looked the same. I'm pretty sure I still have them somewhere, I'd be willing to trade them or give them away if someone really wanted them. Though they're at my parents' house in Newfoundland.

^^^this coming from the guy that was freaking out about scalpers. Some people just take the hobby to cereal it makes the majority of us look like 40 year old virgins with pot bellies who wear shirts that are to small from conventions past
