Talking NoPulp Build Thread - Boosted V6 Mustang

    Hello,
Some members requested a build thread on my car, so here we go.

Please feel free to comment and ask questions. The car is far from complete (will never be complete) so I will update it as it goes.

The car was purchased in 2007 as a father-son project. It had just been used as a donor car for a gt that had hit a deer and its next destination would have likely been the crusher.

All the work was done by my father and I in a standard 2 car garage including the paint. The project started off with an engine swap since the barely running 3.8 v6 wasn't really an option. Of course a v8 engine swap is the first thing that comes to anyones mind, but we had also heard of some interesting v6 builds. We started doing some research and ended up finding a wrecked F-150 with a 4.2 v6 that could be swapped into the mustang.

The 4.2 is a similar engine to the original 3.8 but with the main differences of larger displacement and split port. Boost was the second part of the equation. There had been some people that used an adapter plate to fit a M112 supercharger from the 03/04 cobras onto a splitport v6. Sounded like fun, build a v6 that could beat up the v8s of its era.

So in conclusion, the idea behind the build was to do something different. (Something that's not often seen in the mustang community...)

    Exterior

    Suspension & Interior

Don't really have an pictures of the suspension and interior upgrades. The suspension was all replaced with a bunch of goodies highlighted in the mod list. The interior was completly gutted and the resembled from the few usable stock pieces and an 2000 mustang interior. There was also the 8.8 rear end swap.

From there the car was painted and reassembled. I drove it like that for a year or two, then the supercharger went on.

It uses an adapter plate from SSM

There was obvious good clearance issues, so work had to be done.

With the blower came heat. Since I cant really put an intercooler underneath I am using Meth to help cool things.

I also did an LED swap...

That is a super quick walk through of the build... Just a quick summary really. Next I'll post some more current pictures, videos and dyno results.

Some of the pictures taken by Kevin Chow (unkicrackie99) . Some of the pictures were taken at the closed mental hospital in Raymond Alberta.

If you are on mobile, they'll likely show up weird... Not sure why.

Man that is a sweet job you did there. especially with the supercharger swap
I remember how shitty the N/A 4.2L was. it was the engine in my first truck a 97 F150. couldn't even turn over one tire fire.

Generally not a huge fan of that gen mustang, but this one works really well. What kind of power does the blown 4.2 put out?

I seem to get that a lot. The generation isn't terribly desirable, but I think they can look great with some tweeking.

With the bugs worked out, it should now be at the 300whp point which was my overall goal for the build.

This is a fairly safe setup, there have been people that have pushed the block to 600. I believe at 600 the studs pull apart.

Love it! like others have said not really a fan of that generation. But this build is awesome! You need some ford racing seats and a different steering wheel!

Like others, not my favorite gen but I really like them with the cobra bumper and hood. Creates a whole new look I think. I think not really being able to do something with the exhaust tips is what gets me about this gen, something so trivial.

That said, very cool car. Looks awesome and props for a different build!

Thank you. The interior is definitely making its way up on the to-do list. Seats being the major thing. As for the steering wheel... unless I could find a 10th anniversary wheel for a decent price (impossible) I'll be sticking with the stock wheel. Aftermarket wheels look horrible because of the chunky steering column cover. I will hopefully be doing something with the stock wheel to make it a million times better.

Thanks! What do you mean not being able to do something with the exhaust tips? You can do anything you want with these cars. Get huge tips, dumps, termi exhaust, even side exhaust with the svo side skirts. Exhaust is easy to customize, but since its a mustang the aftermarket is endless.

With the v6 I don't want to change my exhaust too much from current, I think I've made it sound very good. Its really easy to make a v6 sound horrible lol.

I guess all I was getting at is that it's often you see people running their tips similar to what you have done. For me, it's too much tip (from a side profile). Just me being picky with that gen is all.

Ah, I understand now. Mine are fairly long and a good portion of the SN95 community run them the same. You can get shorter tips. I do think the shorter tips look goofy because you can see so much of the side profile.
