I think ingredient is the issue. You are I are around the same age bracket and remembered goodness in HK when we were kids. But as HK cleaned up and China goes into industrial farming, quality is going south too.

Or member berries just make me think it used to be better.

Between eggette and warm pineapple buns with raw butter slices, wonder why there aren't more overweight Asians out there.

Anyone excited about New Horizon mall opening up?

I'm expecting a food court half as good as Aberdeen in Richmond.

Bubble waffle with a Cold Milk Tea would be nice!

.... I'm just setting myself up for disappointment, aren't I?

I was there a couple of months ago. Too bad it's cash only, would've ate way more but didn't have enough cash on me.

There's actually a distributor in Vancouver that sells pre-made batter. I believe a good chunk of the shops get it from that distributor.

There are tons of flavours available in HK. My last trip to HK, I had a few crazy flavours... Vita milk tea, borscht soup and Pandan.

Quickly's (Chinatown) has egg puff waffles now, not sure why they provided a steak knife. I'm sure 99% just use finger peel method, was kinda confused. Nice an hollow too, they have elevated up on a bowl to prevent soggy.

Dessert House has bubble waffles too. But $6.50 for one piece. I'm thinking of just buying my own maker from Amazon.

Thanks for putting that thought in my head... I'll probably have an order in before noon.

Yeah, we have our own iron too. Here's the recipe I use

I can't say how comparable it is to Vancouver because it's been ages since I've tried it there, but it's really good. I have friends who only tried it for the first time when I made it and they love it, especially if you get the bake times figured out so the texture comes out right. Actually they still love it if you burn it haha

If you get a pan, my advice is to make sure you coat the iron very well cause those waffles are a bitch to dig out once they're baked in. And fill the egg holes about half way or a slightly more than half way.

Which iron do you have? I'm really debating getting one right now.

I use the Nordic Ware egg waffle iron. Just toss it onto the stove top or BBQ.

My sister had me pick it up at William and Sonoma when I was in the US so I just use it whenever I get the cravings haha. Searching online seems to suggest it costs about $40USD:

$100 CAD on amazon.ca. Fuck that.
