Naw, the sky is not falling.

We have just hit it perfect, at this exact moment in time more is getting done with less human effort. In fact, its starting to go exponential now.

So what if you are legally blind at 80, it does not matter because the car will drive itself - no need to get a young whipper snapper to tote you around.

There actually better be more seniors than children with that comparison considering our average life expectancy (81 years). Next week can we have an article on how there are more adults than babies age 3months to 4 months?

Also, fuck sharia law and anyone who agrees with it.
Not to mention quality of life of "seniors" is drastically improving and the whole freedom 55 has gone out the window. Many are choosing to work late into their 60s and early 70s. So I think freaking out is just crying wolf at this point.

    Generational warfare.

The baby boomers had it way easier than the incoming cohorts, and still managed not to save anything for retirement/wait for the government to fix their clusterfuck.

CPP will be drained unless we wind down their entitlement or meaningfully bump up the age at which people start receiving benefits, so why are the youth of today paying into a program that they will be completely decimated long before they can retire?

    Generational warfare, likely outcome.

Only if you admit 35 and under in and ban them bringing parents over.

That said, it may not be a bad deal if robots do that over most jobs, kids got job security taking care of old people.

Ha ha I agree that was poorly worded. This issue at hand is that Canadians are having less children compounded with people living longer.

I look at my wife's dad and his mother. They are always in the hospital for something. What bugs me is that they are usually getting medical attention not because they are old but because they aren't taking good care of themselves with too much alcohol and poor eating habits, laziness, etc. Basically nothing but a big drain on our medical system and it's going to get worse before it gets better.

You need to allow to bring the parents over. Family units can make it easier to settle down in a new country, i.e help to babysit for the kids.

Its not entirely the immigration that is the problem, its the process after it. Skills being recognised, entry requirements for institutions that are a plain money grab.
There are so many layers of false 'integration standards'. It acts as a more of a deterrent.
Canada is not just a country, its a continent. ITS HUGE. The population base is really low.

    Well there's always this:

Vulcans practiced euthanasia for the infirm and elderly, and saw nothing wrong with practicing ritual suicide when they reached a certain infirmity with age.

The government just needs to subsidize our vacations. Or increase Stampede to twice a year. Probably NSFW

I knew about this ad campaign, but A+ post lol.

Seriously though, in order to reverse population declines, tons of families would start needing to have 3 kids.

I can't possibly fathom having 3 kids. Even two is a stretch. One kid could be raised on $100k per year single income to support the parents and a kid and still live a decent life (I suppose that goes to $125k dual income?). I'd put having the same standard of living with two kids at $150k-$175k per year, which probably means the wife is working as well. But 3?? Shit starts to get expensive then, houses with more bedrooms, larger vehicles, the insanity of juggling three kids activities, etc etc. Probably would need $225k per year for 3, and that's definitely dual income unless you are a true Beyond baller.

I'd love to have three kids someday, but I've never remotely considered it as I'd still like to have a modicum of a life as a parent when that time comes.

You just gotta be asian about it. 2 bunk beds in one bedroom = 4 kids.
4 kids in the back, no seat belts required.
Pull all kids in the same activities at the same locations regardless of their interests, or cheaper yet cut all activities to only piano at home.
