EDIT: InRich and I discussed this and is keeping me level-headed.

I cannot have scope creep in this project as that bathroom needs attention.

    No to wall knock-down!

The place went through a thorough move-in cleaning so that the smoker smell can be minimized. She hit the place with cleaning products and helped the smell decrease dramatically. She said it was the worst one she's ever done; so filthy and disgusting. Hoping the new paint will help get rid of it, period.

No big carpet jobs to do, thankfully.

While she cleaned the condo, I checked out lighting options and compiled a list.

When I returned, I took out the nasty window coverings! GTFO.

Meanwhile the backsplash and granite teams came today to assess the kitchen. Once they left, painting started!

Long weekend was more painting and prepwork. While my dad did the second coat for the walls, I prepped the bathroom for easy painting.

    More random wall prepping.

    Second coat, done.

While the ceiling was getting a second coat, I got people to vote for an accent wall color:

The left color won by a landslide haha.

I painted the accent wall while my dad finalized my prepwork.

Edging was being done so I went to carpet removal:

Next week will be kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom painting.

Meanwhile, the dishwasher was disconnected and I cleaned it to get the granite crew ready.

    LOL

What have worked for people to increase ventilation in a condo?

It feels stuffy inside and I was thinking of getting one of those Dyson fans or a stylish standing fan.

There's also the always effective modern ceiling fan.

Ceiling fans help immensely just don't go cheap and get a good one otherwise you'll be fighting to get it balanced forever.

air flow in a specific room or throughout the condo?

    - what the layout is
    - how big the windows are

    Can you...

    - if you can fit a box fan to the window.
    - put floor fans in each room (dyson like you said)
    - AC floor/window unit

So if I decide with a ceiling fan, it'll be in the dining area:

The ones I've selected are from Monte Carlo fans and what the lighting store recommended (the radius from the center of that chandelier to the walls are 36 inches or more than 3ft.):

    http://www.montecarlofans.com/20906/...3MTR38TMO.html

    http://www.montecarlofans.com/37657/...CLYR42BSD.html

For the same price as a ceiling fan, I can get a Dyson fan for the living room/dining area.

I can't fit a box fan in the windows and not interested in A/C units.

A ceiling fan adds more to the place than a simple dyson fan and in the summer when it starts to get really warm you'll be glad to have the celing fan over a dyson fan or of the such.

Condos always have issues with being too warm.

One thing a lot of people don't consider re: ceiling fans, is if you or someone in your household is AT ALL susceptible to dry eye, they'll hate the thing and never use it. Just something to keep in mind.

People get dry eyes due to the increase airflow from the fan. You can run the fan at a low speed which helps with this or simply not run it at all unless needed.

Whether you run a individual floor fan or a ceilign fan if your susceptible to dry eyes its going to happen regardless.

good choice on the monte carlo. Mine was solid and had the remote and in wall speed adjustment. One thing to consider - I was never able to get it fully balanced and suspect it had to do with reinforcing it above the box (attic). That wasn't possible with the condo. Or maybe I just suck at lighting install...

Looking great Flip; it's going to be a completely different place!

Has your granite gone in yet? Reviews on the provider? I'm looking to do two bathroom countertops in granite to match my kitchen countertop but not sure who to deal with or what it might cost.

The box should be installed between two joists so it's solid. At least, that's how we did it in the past when we had a ceiling fan at our old house.

Thanks! Granite isn't on yet but my contractor is fellow Beyonder, InRich!

I got my parents to test out his work and we're happy with the results. He's been helping me out with backsplash as well and just waiting for me to pick tiles out (haven't had time yet).

Check my review out or PM me if you have questions:

Just PM me your info, I'll get your counters measured asap, and a fantastic price!

Flips granite should be finished in the next couple weeks along with his back splash, whenever his magisty decides to pick his back splash out

Today was a day wasted. I had a scheduled appliance recycle for this morning but they never came. Ruined my plans for today.

On the plus side, I was able to get backsplash tiles and paint before they closed for the weekend so Sunday won't be a waste.

    Just busier than planned.

    Lesson of the Day:

    Delivery people in Calgary suck.

The project is ~ a week behind schedule and I'm mad. So I went browsing for a bathroom sink to make me happy.
