Backstrom will probably sign a 1 day contract and retire with the Wild. Hiller is gone to Europe. I think we should resign Ramo to a 1 year contract, I like him as the backup a lot better than Ortio. One thing I read is that Elliot has never played more than 45 games in a season, so he still has something to prove as a starter, although I feel he has been a victim of situation (always competing, never given #1 job) so I am not worried about him. Ramo has proven that he can play good for 10-15 game stretches. Ortio has had flashes of brilliance but at this point I feel like the flames, and fans are more or less holding on to the "he is young and still developing into a star" mantra rather than seeing him for what he is. I don't like Ortio. I can't be more happy and relieved that the flames finally have a true #1 goalie, it seems like its been forever since we have had stability at that position.

Also what about Tkachuk! Cant believe we got him and so happy about that. Future looks pretty bright. Treliving is an allstar.

Las Vegas is gonna pick up a really good goalie for their expansion draft. Suck it, Pittsburgh and Tampa.
My bad, when I checked it stated Backstrom was still part of the Flames

Considering Elliott is 2.5/season, I feel Ramo will need to take a significant pay cut to stay which I don't think he will go for but at the end of the day I don't know any teams who would really want him for the price he would be asking

You are right, although if we sign him at say 2m/yr (for 1 year) we are still at 4.5m/yr total for a pretty solid goaltending tandem. I don't see him going anywhere. I don't think any team needs him, and out of all the teams in the league Calgary will be one of the best opportunities for him to play higher amount of games.

I very much doubt Ramo is back. his injury is supposed to last into the fall.

Burke said on the radio that the backup job is Ortio's to lose. Said his strong second half renewed managements faith in him

When Treliving was talking about it, he didn't sound too confident in him though. Rumours they could still get another goalie.

    My hope is Carter Hutton.

Couldn't be happier that we traded for Elliott. Contract year for him and only needed a second pick. Better than Bishop or Fleury which rumored to need our first rounder.

Ortio should get another season as backup to prove himself. He played great in the last half of the season.

Ya we've been developing Ortio for a few years now and he's showed signs of having what it takes last year, why give up on him? Especially when the other young guys aren't even close yet and Ramo is still injured...

    Good move imo!
We signed Chiasson to a 1 year deal after the trade.

Well we didn't tender Ortio a qualifying offer so looks like he is gone. More surprising is that Colborne wasn't offered a qualifying offer. I still think that Ramo could be our backup next year.

I listened to Treliving's interview today on Fan960 and he said they're still negotiating with Ortio and Colborne (he might go to arbitration).

Yeah, no QO doesn't mean they won't sign.

    Perhaps.

But in the case of active roster players it is also often a good indication that they are looking to play in Europe.

Surprised they QO'd Freddie Hamilton. Wonder if it was a stipulation or a favor for his brother.

Likely favor him over Jooris at this point. He showed a lot more jam than Jooris and Dougie pulling strings probably helped a bit.

I like Coborne but even 3M per year is too much for him.

a lot of his points came in the meaningless games at the end of the year.

I think we could probably sign someone better for 2.5m
