It'll plummet once the MK7 hit the shores. The MK4 and 5 will hold their value because of that VR6 engine.

Mine is a turbo and it'll sink in price when the MK7 is out on the prowl.

Honda is hellbent on producing it's own models in their respective territories and I highly doubt they'll bring over the Type-R badge. They'll probably just cram the Turbo v-tec goodness in the new SI.

Probably see a turbo SI from Honda. The only question I have is will they make it the full 276hp+ or Detune it.



Edit: knowing honda they will probably screw it up and put the 1.5l turbo in the si lol.

Price looks pretty good. I think they spaced it as best they could vs the S3, which I believe starts at $44,000 base but well equipped. It would be a tough call for sure. For those lusting over an S3 hatchback or dead set on a manual transmission option, the Golf R seems like a great alternative. Hope to see them both at the car show this March.

Any word on the 5-door? Or did I miss it?

No. We got the 4 door only with the Mk6 Golf R.
American's got option of both, 2 & 4 door.

They'll get option of both this time around as well, while again we only have the 4 door option.

(MK4 R32 *stick, and MK5 R32 *slushbox, were only sold in the USA, in 2 door only)


I replaced my MK4 with a MK6.

I miss that VR immensely, but work dictated a newer car.

Wait a minute. ..S3 is coming to Canada as a 5 door hatch? ???? that would be a tough choice for me. .. Though Id probably go with this R cuz its cheaper...

s3 will stick to sedan. no 5 doors, no convertibles.

5 door a3 may show up in etron trim.
