I thought 2015 golf uses urea though, that is why the TDI has torsion beam rear suspension.
Yea, looks like anything that uses urea isn't affected. VW looks like they did this to save on costs for not having to fit a urea system to put more money in their pockets.
The question is now is there going to be a software fix which will kill fuel economy and power, or will there be a urea retrofit? Either way, going to be lots of class action lawsuits coming up.

Yeah, that is why I don't understand some of the years of the recall. Perhaps holdover MKVI models were 2015s. Urea retrofit would probably be too expensive, so probably cut performance/fuel economy and pay out like hyundai/kia did. If so many people get higher than listed EPA numbers already though.....perhaps they will be in the clear upon re-programming for payoutsOriginally posted by rage2

2015 Jettas and Golfs use urea.... almost all 2 liter diesels are affected. We are not able to sell new OR used 2 liter diesels from 2009-2015 currently.

Depends how many people know. If only a few programmers and execs knew about it then it would be damn hard to detect a small programming detail like this:Originally posted by killramos
I am just surprised that somewhere along the LONG VWAG line between the Top and the ECU programmer/engineering team not one person squealed. In this age of whistle blowers and environmentalists etc.
For first 1000km limit injectors to 80% and retard ignition
Done.
If it's a 2.0 TDI, no. Even if you bought a car saturday, I can't deliver it today.Originally posted by theken

So news keeps changing, it does look like all 2.0L TDI's are affected, including urea equipped cars.
It also looks like the system worked by detecting if it's on a rolling dyno and not WOT testing, and running a different FI map that passed the test.

Looks like the A3 TDI is gone from the website. I'm sure it was on there before.
Yes, that one is affected.Originally posted by lilmira

Yup all 2.0 TDI's are affected. This applies to Canada as well. I can technically sell a 2.0 TDi today if I register it as a sale today but after tomorrow we'll need to wait until this is dealt with. What surprises me is that this is affecting Canadian sold cars as our emissions requirements is no where near what it is in US/California. VW Canada might check the legalities here with emissions testing and might eventually just tell us to go straight ahead with selling them.
This reminds me of when I lived in Ontario. I knew people who would pull back timing or change settings in the EMS to pass Ontario air care inspections, I think Canada tire even sold an emissions solution in a bottle lol.

Cmon free money! Honestly, I really don't care all that much about this, even though we have a car that's affected. Doesn't really change my opinion on VAG(if you aren't cheating, you aren't trying hard enough) and I doubt I'll see any compensation for this either.
It's slimy for sure, but I suspect they aren't the only ones doing this.

I'm not so sure as you can bet the EPA will will now be checking all manufacturers for circumvention and if we don't hear anything it's because they aren't doing it. The stakes seem too high for other automakers to be doing this as we aren't talking about slap on the wrist punishment here. Someone high up at VW made a really bad call and it's going to cost a lot of people their careers.Originally posted by npham

Question. As a VW diesel owner, do you care that they did this to get you better milage and more power? Enough to force them to fix your car for you knowing these things would decrease?
Or is the fact that they lied is enough to make you hate them?

Depends on how you look at things. Emissions are a concern for all of us but at the end of the day the 2.0 TDi's are a joy to drive and I wouldn't want one with less power.Originally posted by SOAB

Has anyone found the actual differences? Right now it seems to be a bunch of hot air.
40% more emissions, when? During WOT? Average drive cycle?
Mileage loss, when? How much? 1mpg?
