Going by 235i pricing this thing should be between $60-70k in Canada. A lot of dough for a small car.
Going by the official pricing posted on the first page this thing is $61k CAD.Originally posted by heavyD

I think the price point is just right, consider it's competitors. (built with similar options)
M2, 65k, 4.3s, 370hp, 3300LB, RWD (with DCT)
S3, 55k, 4.9s, 292hp, 3400LB, AWD
S5, 61+, 5.1s, 333hp, 3850LB, AWD (Too big? 435i competitor?)
CLA45, 62K, 4.2s, 375hp, 3487LB, AWD (4 door coupe)
Cayman, 85k, 4.9s, 340hp, 3100LB, RWD
F type S, 90k, 4.9s, 380hp, ??, RWD (Too big? M4 competitor?)
Best of the bunch unless you want AWD.. Am I missing any contenders? I didn't want to include any domestic or Japanese cars, I don't think there are any in this class... RC-f maybe..
The only competitor is the cla45. S3 is more of a m235i competitor, and we don't get rs3 here.
Cayman and F Type aren't competitors haha.

A lot of people like to throw the Mustang GT in as a competitor mostly on a price to Horsepower scenario.
I don't think its a competitor though personally

I agree on the mustang, and the F-type, but I think the Cayman is compact enough to be a competitor. It's out of the price range for the same performance but it should still qualify.
Nice thing is, burger tuning etc will have some nice plug & play power addons for the m2.
Killramos, have you done anything to your 235i, performance wise?
You wouldn't be the first person to pit a cayman against the 2 series.
I have an M Perf LSD.
I am not much of a tuner, but if i was going to modify i think i would would go for a full Dinan setup with a quad tipped eissenman exhaust and a matching CF diffuser.
But then again i would sooner buy an M2. Or a C63S Coupe

I would too.. They would offer something very similar to the driver outside of badge appeal. I don't consider a 2 series particularly "luxurious" either.Originally posted by dirtsniffer

Keeping this on topic though, what a great looking car!

I love that the DCT has a "Smokey Burnout Mode"
Just due to the size of the car, I would say that the mustang and camaro would compete with the M4..
That being said you can get into a shelby 350 for the same price as an m2..

Went to the dealer, $67,xxx + gst out the door. About $10,000 too much for my liking. NooooooooOoooooo
What transmission? Any on the lot yet?Originally posted by dnizzle

That was for the 6mt and unfortunately they didnt have one there. They estimated a may-june delivery date. Didn't have any finance/lease rates either.Originally posted by gregrego

At $70k out the door though, not sure if its that good of a deal anymore. I think I would almost rather buy a 2013 e92 with under 15,000km for $55-$60 and only depreciate about $10k worth in 2-3 years.
$67k sounds about right for an M2($61,000) + Metallic Paint $895)+ ConnectedDrive ($550)+ Feight/PDI + GST
So the one quoted is fully loaded, which on an M3 would bring you to over around 91k for the same level of equipment.
No real point comparing prices of a used car from 3-4 years ago to a brand new one though. In any case the M2 would likely outperform a stock e92 in about any situation, especially at our altitude. And it comes with modern equipment.
I think BMW has the price spot on if not a bit on the low side for these.

You can get an even better deal if you buy a 2017 M2 in 2020 for $40k and only depreciate about $5k worth in 2-3 years haha.Originally posted by dnizzle

I never understood the new car to used car comparisons. Makes no sense.

Yup, 2 completely different markets and buyers for New vs Used.
Guys I could buy a used Aston for the same price as a loaded M2, WHAT COULD BMW BE THINKING.

Whether new or used I always compare all options in the price range...at the end of the day I don't know about you guys but I am looking for performance, but at the same time don't want to lose an arm and a leg just for the sake of being an early adopter.Originally posted by rage2

This is why comparisons like this exist:

Cant Euro-Deliver a 4 year old E9x..
Too much money. German car pricing is starting to get out of control.
