I had one for 4 years, and sold it last summer. i would have to say it was one of the best cars that I have ever owned. I found the interior really nice, and comfortable. Tonnes of room inside if you need to haul anything and very peppy for it's size. I had the 5 speed, and loved it. We ended up getting a Mazda3 simply because the Protege5 impressed us so much.

Nothing wrong with them. Every time I've ever driven one (at least 5 or 6 times) my experience has always been the same... even though mileage varied from 50K to 125K-ish between them.

Handle predictably, peppy, and comfortable. What more can you ask for out of a 5 door hatch?

They're pretty damn nice i must say. Not the most power in the world, but adequate. Handles amazing, thats what I love most about that car. I thought it was pretty fun to drive when I drove one.

I really like 'em - a tad underpowered though.

I owned an '02 for about 4 months before buying the SRT-4. Handled like a dream. Was slow as hell. Mine was also yellow which I eventually became quite embarassed about. A great buy provided the engine is in good shape.

    thanks for the replies guys.
is the interior really nice? my buddy thought it is terrible..
power is around 125 hp right, correct me if im wrong

my buddy is deciding between a civic hatch back and that protege5.. he loves the civics , 2 door and easy to mod...but not easy to find a white one with good condition these days\. protege5 is also very attractive except the hp..

    what do u guys think

130hp and 3300lb if I remember correctly, tons of low end torque though.

You might want to get HeavyD's opinion just for good measure.
