Looks fine to me, angular and a nice subtle evolution over the B8

The S's have never been all flashy like you guys are saying, different wheels, slightly wider fender, quad exhaust, silver mirrors and different valances.

Have to say though, current gen Jetta copied A4. Not the other way around.

A little too safe in the styling. Also don't like the gear lever blocking the multi media control knob.

No manual = Fail. Seriously, why even build this kind of car if you're not going to put a manual or at least a DSG in it. Sorry, just opinionated in that perspective...

Must be update the online configurator week. 2018 Audi S4 is now on the Canadian website. My optioned one came out to $69K. Not bad considering the competition (C43, 340xi, XE R-Sport)

About 3k cheaper than the C43 in the trim I like. The AMG gets my vote.

Manual cars are dying. BMW is really the only company you can count on for putting manual transmissions in their higher end cars. But the S4/S5 isn't some crazy fast car, so I don't get why you are so upset with the lack of manual transmission option on them.

The RS4/5 should we get it over here will not be offered in manual either, because on paper, it's faster as an auto.

Demo S4 should land around Jan.

But I did sit in the A4 before I make the move to MB. I'm not feeling the new design and material used is definitely inferior to C class. And the typical S treatment really doesn't add much.

That virtual cockpit tho, that's cool. And looks way better than MB's take on that full LCD layout.

And I do miss the supercharged engine and the DCT. But neither is back on the new B9 S4.

    Man, that's boring.

I stopped in to Lonestar today, to look around and eyeball a mid-life-crisis mobile, and man, MB is killing Audi and BMW right now. They are doing a great job. The brand has come a long way even since I got my GL.

This kind of marketing pisses me off. Why is it a 2018 model year?

Like it's October 2016 now and sure it's near the end of the year. But the configuration is out, they probably have plenty of preproduction models rolling around in Europe that can be physically driven. Release is supposedly early next year... It's nowhere near 2018 for god's sake.

You wouldn't be if you've tried the latest generation of conventional transmissions. The ZF 8-speed is a good example of how good they are now.

I was gonna ask how they compare. Guess I'll have to drive one to find out.

    Is it as good? no.

Is there a huge difference? no.

But it will be safer to own ZF 8 speed than a DSG 7spd after warranty, that much I know.

ZF handle more after market power than the DSG?

Good question. The S6/S7 has DSG and advertised power is very under-rated (it's more like 480), so they already have a DSG that would give plenty of headroom on the new S4 probably up to at least around 500HP/TQ and didn't use it. Shame they took it away.

7 Speed DSG tops out at ~400lb/ft. ZF tops out at 516lb/ft

The TT V8 cars using the 7 speed DSG make over 450lb/ft torque, they are very under rated. The chances of Audi leaving no headroom on that whatsoever is pretty slim, so I doubt there is too much power handling difference at all between the DSG and the ZF.
