Default Net Neutrality and Security In The USA

With the beginning of the end of net neutrality in the states and all the business the NSA is up to I thought it would be a good time to post this for all.

His end proposal is for 97% of the globe (non-americans) to abandon USA based services. Not easy. As a fun experiment I added the United States to the geo-ip filter on one of our firewalls and that pretty much rendered the internet useless. Scary when you think about it.

From what I recall, the rest of the world is setting up their own backbone .... bypassing the USA.

But its the endpoint that matters. Everyone can do whatever they can to encrypt traffic but if the end location is in the USA the yanks, at least from the Snowden leaks, can see it and have been trying to with success.

There is suspicion that Apple, Microsoft and others have given the NSA backdoors because there is extensive documentation the NSA have had to "brute force" blackberry encryption as it is not an american company. They simply, one day, got "access" to American providers.
