Intriguing news out of NASA...
Warp drive may be possible, within the centuryo_O!! I really, really, REALLY hope that they can prove their theories correct and experiement with near-Earth spaceflight (say, to Jupiter or Saturn in a DAY o_o!) within my lifetime. Even if it doesn't pan out, the fact that this is being taken seriously is officially AWESOME

Well, it is fairly feasible, **IF** the loopholes turn out to be provable. That's the biggest if. Also, it does follow relativity, as the ship within the warped space time would still be within the speed of light. The only part I can't comprehend, and is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY beyond by knowledge of physics, is how you make the bubble of warped space/time travel 10x the speed of light while keeping the speed inside the bubble at sub-light (technically, the vessel inside the bubble would have a velocity of 0, but a relative velocity of 10*c)Originally posted by dj_patm

They include a layman's explanation of it in the article:
It would compress space ahead of the bubble while expanding it behind the bubble. The bubble doesn't move, it's the space in front of and behind the bubble that does.
