Just looking at some more options, i might just go with the ikea in stock countertops (it'd cost under $200, that way it doesn't hurt so much now since i plan to get a stone countertop later anyway, just not in the budget right now), they don't have a backsplash so they should be easy to cut, then just use something like this instead of normal miter bolts since i dont have a router or anything.

Only thing that sucks is they only come in 98" and i need 102", so i will need a second joint.

That should work, just remember to tape the cut line with masking tape and use a decent blade- laminate like to chip when saw cut. those bolts are neat but if you can hold the seam tight, even a scrap piece of 1/2 OSB or mdf with a few short screws on the bottom would hold it in place for you.

thats actually a good point, i have a few feet of perforated angle iron at home, i could probably just rig something up with that, just put a couple bolts through it, i'd likely remove it after the glue sets anyway, might replace it with some low profile plywood or something, the corner unit is a pullout anyway so we will never be actually reaching in there.

    same as this

I might even do an alternative mitre cut on the corner so i can avoid a second joint, could do like a bulkhead mitre to make up the 4 inches we'll be short on the countertop. Kind of like what jwslam showed above

I actually just had a quote from them. Counters, tile, sink, faucet for kitchen and main floor bath. $14K. I haven't had time to get any other quotes yet though. I was hoping for under $10K...

i actually found out ikea's custom countertops for laminate range from $17-$28 ln/ft so for my setup i'll be looking at roughly 15 feet so that's really reasonable, i'll probably end up going with that, they make the sink cutout, edge contour and mitre cuts for you as well, just working on getting the cabinets 100% fitted for accurate measurements before ordering, i will probably order it this weekend though.

so i ended up going with Ikea custom laminate, $420 @ $28 lin/ft (self install)

Funny thing is, they use floform, but they are way cheaper than going directly to floform.
