    Default Subaru Levorg Concept

According to Subaru, it's in a class between an Impreza and a Legacy(which looks like it's getting bigger and bigger every year) ... so 'mid-full size'? It doesn't really even look like a concept, it's the front end of the new WRX then wagon, it even has video of it driving:

Levorg has the power to make driving smooth and lively. However, it carries a low displacement engine that also allows excellent fuel efficiency. The Horizontally-Opposed direct injection turbo "DIT" powertrain comes in two types; one, the newly-developed 1.6-liter DIT, and two, the 2.0-liter DIT which gives superb driving pleasure with its high output and torque.

Levorg features an exquisite and stylish design of a sports tourer while also realizing abundant load capacity. Other attractions include its quality interior with finesse obvious in even the smallest parts, maximized utility, first-class driving comfort, and an exhilarating steering experience. It is equipped with the next-generation EyeSight as well; all of these aspects contribute to a model that represents the future of Subaru and gains customer satisfaction that exceeds expectations.

The production Levorg is scheduled to launch sales in spring 2014; pre-orders begin January 4,2014.

    ~

    < Engine >
Two types of engines are made available in Levorg, each with unique appealing qualities in its balance between driving and environmental friendliness.

    - 1.6-liter Horizontally-Opposed direct injection turbo "DIT" Engine -
The newly developed 1.6-liter Horizontally-Opposed DIT offers both brisk driving pleasure and superb fuel performance of 17.4 km/liter (JC08 mode)*1. This feat is actualized by combining a low displacement engine with DIT.
Fuel efficiency was enhanced by Subaru's first adoption of DIT plus no idling.
A full tank can keep Levorg running for 1000km*2. The engine is fit for a sports tourer that can take passengers farther in more comfort. It is also economical, made for regular unleaded gasoline.

    - 2.0-liter Horizontally-Opposed direct injection turbo "DIT" Engine -
A high output of 221kW (300PS)*1 and a torque that reaches 400NEm (40.8kgfEm)*1 with 2000 rpm are impressive performances suiting a high grade sports tourer. However, Levorg also achieved a superb environmental value of 13.2 km/liter (JC08 mode).

1000km range @ ~100km/h for the 1.6T sounds pretty interesting, make it to Vancouver in one tank like a VW TDI. Or a ~295HP 2.0L T for those who want a bit more fun. The same 2.0L T FA from the Forester/WRX maybe?

Better than the bubble-butt concept I just saw in the other thread... At least this is practical.

So when Subaru said there would be no hatch/wagon model of the WRX, did they just lie and name the thing different? What was the problem of putting it the Impreza/WRX/Legacy names?

Either way, I'd be excited to try out this new motor. Sounds like it can be fun!

It looks like the same size as the last gen legacy, which is better than the boat it is now.

I like it, it's not 'over-styled' like so many cars these days. Still has the Subaru look but it's not actually ugly. Change the name though.. Please. Have a feeling we might not see this in North America.

IMO most hatches and wagons are inherently ugly and this car is ugly.

If it has 300ish hp and a manual transmission, that may be my next car...

And this is why North Americans hate wagons... I think wagons are awesome. The 2005 Legacy looked better as a wagon. And the current Ford Fiesta and Focus look MILES better as hatches.

The Lancer wagon and hatch are butt ugly, and the 2008 Subaru Impreza/WRX hatch was ugly too.

    So there are both sides.

It likely is not going to be manual. Like the LGT and Forester XT the 2.0 turbo is only mated to a CVT.

I HATEEE CVT's but was totally sold on this sport CVT subaru has, and bought it as such lol. (I worked at Nissan and replaced a ton of them lol)

They are the grandfathers of CVT in autos and have been using it just as long as the others.

Surprised it has the hood scoop, they stopped putting them on the turbo foresters, this is for a different consumer thats for sure.

IMO this attitude is more telling of the change in generations were young men today care more about their smart phones than cars. They only need their smart phone, man purse, and their manvan and that's how they roll.

I disagree wholeheartedly. Like it was said above, there ARE some complete duds in the wagon/hatchback world, but in general I feel like they're under appreciated. Plus, practicality is a strong suit of theirs

This car is really interesting. Definitely a contender for my next vehicle, but only if there is a non-CVT tranny offered.

I wonder why Subaru won't develop a dual clutch

As long as they keep offering manuals, I don't care.

DC's still cost too much money especially for a brand like Subaru that's cars are kind of low tech compared to a lot of the competition. Really when you look at it not many Japanese manufacturers have offered DC's. Just Nissan and Mitsubishi and those were in specialized cars. I think Honda will be offering them soon.

I for one am really stoked to see if they sell this in North America. This would definitely be worth looking at. We're wagon folk at my household and currently the market is pretty slim. But the name? Unfortunate... not a deal breaker, but damn near close.
