Valentine Volvo seemed like a really good dealer, I was please overall until I was walking over expecting to give them a deposit then boom, +10k. My sales person said he'd make some calls and I was still hopeful we could make a deal, but unfortunately that didn't happen.
Speaking of Tesla...I thought you could now buy a Volvo online?

Maybe just in the U.S. but I know there is a "Volvo buying experience" where you can travel to Sweden for a Volvo-Vacation. lol

What's with car dealers not putting on their big boy pants like the rest of the business world? If I make a mistake in my business dealings, then I gotta eat it. It's why I spend too much on lawyers and accountants.

It's why, when I'm in Chinook, I want to go into the Tesla store and shake everyone's hand and thank them for attempting to disrupt the car retail status quo.
How does Tesla service vehicles? Bring it back to Chinook?

Good question. Looks like there isn't even a service centre in Alberta yet.

I have a $40K new gti, so i figured it would have a $28k give or take value and that they took a few grand out of the xc60.

You're probably right about $28K retail roughly. I think it may be worth it for you to try and sell privately. You will for sure make more given the fact there isn't a GST savings to be had on your trade in.

How many months are left on your lease? Perhaps if there are not too many left, just have the remaining payments built into the new finance contract and return the car early to VW.

GL, i hope you find something that works!

I believe there is a tech in Alberta or Calgary, limited service for sure. Pretty sure I heard them discussing this on the radio so could be complete BS

There are mobile techs, I have seen their vehicles. So it'll be more like Geek Squad than traditional dealers.

Since the Volvo was overpriced, it isn't unusual for a dealer to say no discount, but then give you a better trade in deal to make it seem like you're getting a deal. I probably would have wondered the same thing as KVG if the dealer was trying to make ~$10K on that Volvo. Anytime you make a deal and back out that's bad business IMO. Had the tables been turned they would have screwed you as hard as possible on a deposit or anything else it may have been. At least you aren't out anything, just move on and don't buy from them.

They made a pretty big mistake for sure. They should've at least split the difference with you. But yeah, as soon as I read your trade in value for a GTI I just about spat out my coffee. My brother just picked up a 2015 GTI 1 owner clean title low kms for 25 ish.

Does it matter though? If the car you wanted is gone?

My friend Dave is a Ranger (Tesla mobile service person) for Tesla here in Calgary. He loves it.

This is my thinking as well. Probably just more greasy tactics to get another sale. After the car he wanted is already sold, they start getting apologetic. Probably just an offer to find something similar and give him a "deal". Who knows though - I automatically assume the worst anytime it comes to car sales.

I would be inclined to give them a second chance. Gives you a little bit of high ground at the bargaining table now.
Got 26~ after the GST credit when I traded my '15 GTI in, tuned and roof rack, but nothing crazy

.. but ya, 32 for a GTI is insance

I have to agree with this. That guy that clearly fd up I get it but now could be done and out of a job now ? I mean it's one thing to come on here and ask for advice and what not but IMO too far to put this for everyone to see on their Facebook page over a deal that should have never happened in the first place. ( I do agree though they screwed up and should have made it better but it's just a car big deal move on )
A Ferrari is a high maintenance chick, you spend money regardless of what you do with her. You can baby the C63, or slap on all seasons, and you won't be spending anything but yearly maintenance. Of course that's like dating a stripper and refusing to fuck her, which would make you gay.
