    Nope - imagine if businesses, people working from home, or other customers could hold Shaw/Telus accountable every time there was any potential lost revenue any time there was an outage. It would be nuts. They won't even give you a discount off your monthly bill when their service goes down without a major fight haha.

    Pokerstars used to be pretty cool about it and refund me before they became cheap fuckers and stopped caring about their clients..

    I used a lot of them while in Mexico





    It makes sense though I do have a backup here but Rogers was not connecting as well, my fault for not figuring out out before hand and making it work..

    I can definitely see how in cases like this they would expect the customer to have a backup though.

    I don't think they have uptime guarantees unless you're a business client, and even then I'm not sure what it is.

    Yah I can only imagine how much some business lost from this, was thinking about some day traders how badly some of them must of got burned...

    Mine could of been much worse and it's just kind of an expense with internet issues it's expected sometimes..

    Just called Shaw to see if it was resolved and they said if you are back online now you should be good.

    The lady on the phone said that the Main modems had a software update and it crashed a ton of the modems giving service and they are reversing to the old software on all the modems to fix the issue..



    I got my backup connected directly now and hope this doesn't happen again...

    Offices here and out west were fine, but lost Internet at home. for a while.
    My IP address changed when it came back up. I HATE that, it almost never changes.

    SLAs are useless, even if you're a business. Take a look at some of the big players, your compensation is a fraction of your bill and caps at a pretty low percentage, even if they're out for a month lol.

    Nobody compensates for actual business losses due to SLA breach. That would be stupid and could destroy a company in no time.

    Oddly enough, my Shaw never went down. Wonder what's different about my setup.
