Nope - imagine if businesses, people working from home, or other customers could hold Shaw/Telus accountable every time there was any potential lost revenue any time there was an outage. It would be nuts. They won't even give you a discount off your monthly bill when their service goes down without a major fight haha.Originally posted by Kobe
That was a $500 outage for me..
Fuck you shaw..
Edit: any way to get those fuckers to refund me? It was exactly $375USD can obviously prove it..
You can have $200 for free if you can somehow pry it from your buddyOriginally posted by Kobe

Pokerstars used to be pretty cool about it and refund me before they became cheap fuckers and stopped caring about their clients..Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

I used a lot of them while in Mexico
It makes sense though I do have a backup here but Rogers was not connecting as well, my fault for not figuring out out before hand and making it work..

"we have already provided you with over 14 refunds" Sounds like you did pretty good.
I can definitely see how in cases like this they would expect the customer to have a backup though.
I don't think they have uptime guarantees unless you're a business client, and even then I'm not sure what it is.Originally posted by Kobe

we had several offices down, overpaid engineers sitting there for an hour with their thumb up their asses, probably more than Kobe's $500

Mine could of been much worse and it's just kind of an expense with internet issues it's expected sometimes..

Shit, there's only 49 users here, I doubt we'll even break 100
we had 2 locations in Calgary and 1 in lethbridge, all went down at the exact same time 1:46pm, Calgary came back up at about 2:50 and lethbridge at 3:02 so for us it was about 1:15 max, i assume they were bringing it back up in stages to not get tanked again by facebook refreshes.Originally posted by max_boost

Just called Shaw to see if it was resolved and they said if you are back online now you should be good.
The lady on the phone said that the Main modems had a software update and it crashed a ton of the modems giving service and they are reversing to the old software on all the modems to fix the issue..
I got my backup connected directly now and hope this doesn't happen again...

Offices here and out west were fine, but lost Internet at home. for a while.
My IP address changed when it came back up. I HATE that, it almost never changes.
pretty sure it was just the cable network not the fibre network.Originally posted by The_Penguin

SLAs are useless, even if you're a business. Take a look at some of the big players, your compensation is a fraction of your bill and caps at a pretty low percentage, even if they're out for a month lol.
Nobody compensates for actual business losses due to SLA breach. That would be stupid and could destroy a company in no time.
Oddly enough, my Shaw never went down. Wonder what's different about my setup.
