If you're running an antivirus programs, try disabling all their services temporarily and then run a standalone/onetime program called adware cleaner.

I thought about an infection, but that seems unlikely given that it occurs on the Mac and PC. Also, I haven't even heard of any type of infection like that, nor have any other techs I know.

For now, I'm going with a third party program that's installed on the Mac and PC that is inhibiting AB+

Ya, that's why I'm hoping church has a third party program installed on his Mac and PC that his wife doesn't.

EDIT: Wait a sec. Church, does your wife have her own Mac, or do you share one with different accounts? A better explanation of how many computers are in the household that are either showing the issue or not would be helpful.

Here's a few other shot in the dark things to try:

    1) Make sure your date and time are correct.

    2) Click the AdBlock button and select Options. On the GENERAL tab, disable "Allow some non-intrusive advertising".

    3) Clear FF's cache.

    4) Remove (not disable) AB, restart the computer, then install AB from here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir.../adblock-plus/ and make sure its icon is red and not greyed out.

Seriously though, do you run third party software that your wife doesn't run? More specifically, a program which may affect certain browser functions such as an antivirus or other type of security?

Also, it might be a good test to temporarily try Chrome with AB.
I think you're right, I may be cursed. I might have to make chrome my youtube browser.

We have anti virus on my work PC but I'm not running anything on my personal mac. The only thing thats consistent is my youtube account, the browser, ad block plus, and the videos I'm testing. On my wife's personal mac with FF, AB+ and those same videos she doesn't get ads. What the fuck...

She runs a completely different machine. Same operating system though, and they are both mac book pros circa 2010-2011 ish.

    So,

    - Issue occurs on both your Mac and PC.

    - Issue does not occur on your wife's Mac.

    Got it.

To help nail it down, temporarily try Chrome to see if the ads appear, and try Windows in Safe Mode with networking. https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/...c-in-safe-mode

    Other than that:

    1) Make sure your date and time are correct.

    2) Click the AdBlock button and select Options. On the GENERAL tab, disable "Allow some non-intrusive advertising".

    3) Clear FF's cache.

    4) Remove (not disable) AB, restart the computer, then install AB from here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fi...n/adblock-plus/ and make sure its icon is red and not greyed out.

One of those should get us where we need to be. If not, then ya, an exorcism is in order

-With chrome: no ab+ = ads. With ab+ I have no you tube ads but some banners (I can deal with that).

    -Date and time are correct.

-Tried with allowing some non-intrusive ads and without allowing some non-intrusive ads. No difference

    - Cleared cache, cookies, and history = no difference

    - Removed ab+, restarted, reinstalled = no difference.

I ended up downloading AdBlocker for YouTube and right out of the box it didn't work in FF but with some tweaking I eventually got it working.

I cannot wrap my head around what is going on here.

I would reset/remove all the browser addons entirely on both machines..... then try a different blocker like ublock.

AdBlocker for YouTube was short lived. About 10 videos in ads started coming back again. I give up.

    How about one last test?

Try Windows in Safe Mode with networking. https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca...pc-in-safe-mode

Ghostery is the end all be all for blocking tracking websites and advertising. I highly recommend it.

Still got ads. At least this time it was for Gibsons whisky which, although its a terrible whisky, its better than the fucking wix.com ad that makes me want to smash everything in sight.

Nada. It didn't work by itself nor did it work in conjunction with ad block plus, or you tube ad blocker.

I'm really running out of options here. I'm going to make the awkward switch over to chrome (which I still don't like) but I am worried that these problems may follow me across there. I tried Chrome the other day when Seth was giving me tests to try and it seemed okay but Fire Fox seems okay some times too.

The Chrome test will give valuable information.

If there are no ads with Chrome, then it means that something is causing AB to malfunction in FF. This would mean a third party program (unlikely given it occurs in Safe Mode), or a malfunction in FF itself. If the latter, then you would have to do a reset to FF, or better yet, uninstall and re-install it.

NOTE: Unlike other browsers, FF will remove your passwords when it's reset.

Chrome, with ad block plus installed, gives me ads. Lately its the wix.com ad and its driving me crazy! What the hell is going on here.
