Mercedes CLA45 AMG to debut at NY Auto Show

Scoured my sources for tons of details on the car. Rumored price of $43k. Gonna be an awesome car.

If we're lucky, Sept of this year. Usually AMG models show up a few months later for new models, which puts it in the Jan 2014 timeframe.

Perfect timing. My lease is up on my car then. Would be very surprised to see them price the car at $43k though.

Everything about it on paper sounds sweet. I just can't get over the looks; it's just not my cup of tea. So bummed out about the A45 AMG not coming here.

Mine cost $40something + tax. I don't remember the invoice amount exactly and that's excluding the 3M so I wanna say $43k?

I can see the dealers jacking with the price in the first couple months, shopping their allotment of these vehicles to the highest buyer. It wouldn't be the first time I've had my deposit returned to me before.

Mercedes-Benz (Canada and US) doesn't allow that. Dealers are not even allowed to post high demand cars on ebay until it's cleared by corporate. They get fined heavily for selling above MSRP, and lose future allocations.

One of the big dealers in the US mistakenly posted a C63 BS on ebay when it first came out, got fined $75k, and lost the remaining BS allocations haha.

Well if the leaked US price list is anything to by:

CLA250 FWD - $30K-$40K

CLA250 4Matic - probably ad $2K on top of FWD?

CLA45 probably will start at $50K assuming there are enough hardware upgrade from the CLA250 4Matic.

Still under $60K for something that can do mid to high 4s 0-60 is crazy. What I have read so far on A45 is that AMG tuned the 4Matic to be rear bias. Just wondering if it's the typical 40:60 or more can be sent to the back.

The other issue I have is that this car will be front heavy and from the front overhang, seems to be lot of that weight could over in front of the front axle. Wonder how it handles.

EDIT: And being Canadian, we probably will have to pay $5K on top of US price.

It's a variable torque split, with 40/60 F/R normal distribution for the AMG version. No details on how much more it can go. There's no word on standard or optional LSD out back.

The Calgary dealers got it bad way back in the day too for exporting all the AMG's to China. Something like $300k fine in the early 2000's haha.
