Great concept but I think battery technology needs to improve before EVs are feasible for Canadians

It has the straight line performance of the Fiesta ST (with no lag), which is around the same price.
It won't perform overall nearly as well as an ST imo.

Don't get this logic. This car is a commuter. You could live in Airdrie, drive DT and back, and plug it in.Originally posted by nobb
300 km range in the summer, but it's going to be atleast halved in the winter. Great concept but I think battery technology needs to improve before EVs are feasible for Canadians

The point is, if the car is advertised with a 300km range, it's what the consumer expects. The average soccer mom isn't going to want to think/plan around about how much the range is de-rated in winter conditions, to pre-heat the car before commuting, or etc. Most people are already bad enough about keeping their cell phones topped up for their daily use.Originally posted by atgilchrist

People who picked EV are the people who has their life together. It's unforgiving for everyone else who can't even top up their cell phone. It's not for everyone.Originally posted by nobb

It's for someone that can plug in at work or travel less than 50km per day. If you have range anxiety and wants EV experience, there's the Volt for roughly the same price.
Without emission pricing, EV doesn't make sense at all from a economic perspective.
I think it really all hinges on the price of fuel vs the price of electricity. (Once EV tech is ready for Canada)
If the AB government stays the course, electricity is going to cost a hell of a lot more than it does now.

Looking around
Wondering what became
Of what I once knew
Stuff like this is cool, step forward for technology. I wonder what the braking resistors look like. This is a step closer to motion control in vehicles.Aggressive regenerative braking allows the Bolt to drive using the brakeless 1 pedal method, but for those inexperienced with such a driving style, a less efficient standard drive mode is available.
Machining, Fabricating, Welding etc.

If it's anything like the Volt GM won't be stocking it. It will be an order vehicle only.
I hate the fact that my dealership doesn't keep any on the floor. Makes me mad when so much money went into it - they could have at least one here!!

I doubt it'll be an AutoX car. Like the Tesla S, even with a low center of gravity, it's hard to hide the weight. But yea, that's what I was getting at in terms of performance, 0-100 should be similar to the Fiesta ST.Originally posted by Sugarphreak
It might have a quick 0-60, but that is likely where the performance aspect of this vehicle ends.

Reading that it'll be $35k and 320kmOriginally posted by rage2
They have a loyal following, but not everyone can afford a 6 figure EV. Tesla is a ways off from retailing a Model 3, and that's assuming there are zero delays (not bloody likely).
The range is semi-confirmed but the price is pure speculation right now. We'll find out in a couple months.Originally posted by jwslam

Funny how this headline can be completely reversed after all the model 3 reservations. I wonder whos going to buy a Bolt now knowing that for the same money you can get something much better.Originally posted by rage2
Exactly what I said years ago in the Tesla stock thread.
2 years out before the Model 3 becomes reality. They're getting left in the dust.
OTA updates, faster, options for range (that go even faster), options for auto pilot and super chargers.
Also I personally LOVE the look the model 3, this, not so much.
Also regarding the Bolt, looks like GM doesn't have enough confidence in it to help fund a charging network:
