The lady involved with this is a co-worker of my girlfriends mom and she says the situation and what happened was just insane.
And there you have it, straight from the hoses mouth. This act is now officially "insane"Originally posted by firebane

This is why I come here first, to get all the information before it hits the media.

You'd think the victim of random violence would have a little more empathy than the average citizen?

....NCR, calling it now
"It was my stabbing incident that lead me to distrust anyone that honks at me, also it got me addicted to (insert drug here), and that's why I tried murdering her."
i had this conversation with co workers how i was a bit surprised that the guys getting charged with attempted murder. People can shoot and stab people and not get that charge..
And then it came out the guy charged with attempted murder was himself stabbed 6 times yet his attacker wasnt charged with a more serious charge.
Good to see the more serious charge but why can you stab someone multiple times and thats not attempted murder Then Use a crow bar and it is.
I believe I read that the crowbar blows were directed at her head, and the only reason she survived was due to her blocking them with her arms. Also, he followed her until she got home, so not exactly "heat of the moment" stuff.Originally posted by gwill

Stabbing someone can easily kill them. When someones stabbed multiple times isnt the intent of that person to kill them?
Again i think the police did the right thing but its a bit odd that other serious crimes end up with lesser charges.
Not enough info to judge the situations really, there may be more to the stabbing story than we know. but they wouldn't put up attempted murder charges unless they really thought they could convict him.Originally posted by gwill

Same reason they probably didn't put the stabber up for attempted murder, they didn't think they could get a conviction. They only charge people with a high enough crime they think they can win.
Basically anytime there is a serious charge in Canada, you can downgrade it by 1-2 full charges to predict what will actually happen. Curious to hear what really happened, sounds like she is far from innocent, which will likely play a role in downgrading his charge (purely speculating).
I'd like to know the statistics about how often people get convicted of the full, initial charge they are charged with, as I would bet it's almost never the case. Maybe I'm wrong.
I predict attempted murder --> Assault

There are 3 levels of assault charges in Canada.
This likely will end up as:
Assault with a weapon or causing bodily harm
267 Every one who, in committing an assault,
(a) carries, uses or threatens to use a weapon or an imitation thereof, or
(b) causes bodily harm to the complainant,
is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years or an offence punishable on summary conviction and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding eighteen months.
R.S., 1985, c. C-46, s. 267; 1994, c. 44, s. 17.
Attempted murder lol
This is Canada, Assualt with a weapon will be the charge and he'll get probation
What do you speculate she did to provoke an attack with a crowbar lol.Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

Wouldn't be surprised if the defendant pleads some kinda mental illness based on his backstory. You gotta be a little nuts to smack a woman with a crowbar in a fit of rage.
If it was attempted murder, why would he stop hitting after he broke her arms? Agreed he should be punished, but attempted murder is a BIG stretch IMO.
Good luck finding a "mens rea" case for murder - unless the clown actually confessed to wanting to kill her, or was yelling it during the attack.
If you read my earlier post I clearly stated she did not deserve the outcome...Originally posted by Manhattan

What I 'speculate' happened though is she did something totally irresponsible/immature to provoke this person whom she obviously did not know had severe rage issues. Had she acted like a normal, reasonable, person, I think it's highly unlikely any of this would have occurred despite the attackers issues. If I had to guess, she tried to get some sort of petty 'revenge' on this individual for the traffic incident, and it ended badly for her.
