Wow, it looks so much nicer than the previous gen. Love how sculpted looking the sheet metal is. That front end is killer. Also love the wheels.

Pricing and performance numbers released today.

    http://media.gm.com/media/us/en/chev...08-camaro.html

DETROIT – The 2017 ZL1, the most powerful production Camaro ever, and the track-bred 1LE are designed to deliver exhilarating performance on both the open road and the road course, at prices that leave the competition behind.

When they go on sale later this year, the 2017 Camaro ZL1 will be priced at $62,135 for coupe models and $69,135 for convertibles. Prices include destination charge, but not tax, title and other dealer fees. The 1LE package is a $4,500 MSRP option on Camaro V-6 LT coupe models and $6,500 on the V-8 1SS coupe model. For LT coupes, the 1LE package features the Camaro SS’s FE3 suspension, while the 1SS benefits from the ZL1’s electronic limited-slip differential and FE4 suspension with Magnetic Ride dampers.

“The Camaro ZL1 offers supercar performance with daily-driver refinement, a combination that stacks up against any other sports coupe – at any price – around the world,” said Steve Majoros, director, Chevrolet marketing.

“Building on Chevrolet’s well-established recipe for track-focused performance, the new 1LE packages expand the performance envelope of the Camaro SS and, for the first time, the Camaro LT,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. “You’ll be hard-pressed to find more track-capable cars in their respective classes for the money.”

    ZL1

    0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds
    Quarter-mile in 11.4 seconds at 127 mph
    1.02 g max cornering
60-0 mph braking in 107 feet (32 meters)
    220-pound (100 kg) weight reduction
    650-horsepower (485 kW) supercharged LT4 6.2L V-8 engine
*ZL1 performance numbers achieved with a coupe equipped with the available 10-speed automatic transmission and using original-equipment tires on a non-prepped surface.

It'll be around $82-84 starting. That's not bad.

Once you factor the 10sp (2k option I figure), and our increased freight - 92-95 OTD.

I'm just looking forward to someone dynoing it vs a 15-16 Z06. It WILL make more power of its pulling 127mph with almost 4,000lbs curb.

2017 corvette will make more power yet, but GM won't advertise an increase.

I don't know how to gauge Canadian pricing off of US pricing, but I don't think it'll be that high. If it is it'll never sell. MSRP on my '14 that I had was $61,000 (US MSRP was $56,000). I don't think it's improved that much to be worth another $20,000.

GM said all along that if you could afford a 5th gen ZL1 you can afford a 6th gen. I expect it to be mid to high 60s.

My pricing speculation was 100% based on USA to CDN GT350 pricing.

    It'll be close.

How bad was markup when the previous ZL1 was released?
US guys are still paying markup on the GT350 models. I assume Canadian buyer are doing the same.
I could see this thing being $100k CAD if the dealers are doing the same.

I can see a dealer asking for an outrageous amount, and there will probably be someone that pays it. But doesn't anyone remember how they couldn't get rid of the 2015 Z28s for $80k? They were blowing them out in the low $60s. I don't think GM is going to be too keen on overpricing a Camaro again. And I don't think a dealer that sat on a Z28 for a year will want a repeat of that.

Rather than look at the GT350, look at other GM cars. Pricing in Canada is 13-15% higher than US for Corvettes and Camaros. If that continues, and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't, a ZL1 coupe should come in around $71,000 MSRP.

If my calculations are correct, a CDN base vette is 16% higher than USA counterpart. If that's the case it should move the ZL1 in at $72,500.

That would be a fantastic bargain. The GT350 base price now is $75,400 including freight.

I'm still sticking to my guns - 80k+. Believe me, I'd love to be wrong.

I hope you're right, the more I think about it. Me buying one would be a bad idea at $72k, but I'm dumb enough that I would probably do it as soon as I had the opportunity. I don't think I would buy an $80,000 Camaro.

This isn't your dad's Camaro. I'm expecting Nurburgring record breaking performance in it's class.

If I had the money I would consider this car or the new CTS-V.

As long as they have the heat/limp home mode issues worked out that were plaguing the new Z06.

They've got the heat soak issue fixed on the Z06, I doubt the Camaro will have the same problem.

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.
