    that's about it.
the KA24E comes in the 89-90 version and is a pretty weak engine...
the KA24DE comes in the subsequent models of the 240SX

you should also try checking out www.zilvia.net for more info... it'd be of more help

    Yeah
    They pretty much covered it

In Nissan's engine codes, the letters after the displacement mean different things.

With the KA24DE, the 24 is the 2.4l displacement, the D is for dual overhead cams, and the E is for electronic fuel injection. Nissan's with a turbo engine would have a T in it like my '84 300zx turbo, which is a VG30ET.

So when you have a KA24E, there is no D so it is only a SOHC engine.

    KA24E and KA24DE?

Easy, the second one has a D in it, and the first one doest....
Ummm D most likely stands for... ... Dipstick! Yes, the later one comes with a dipstick and the first one you need to buy and aftermarket dipstick for!

Carbon fibre dipsticks add 15hp at the wheels

mhmmm so why are people so crazy about sr20det? i mean ka24de add a T and u would have a lot more potential than the sr20 right? cause 0.4 more liters can make a difference... as far as i know.. what is the sr and ka? just engine label like civic and accord?

turns out everyone and their gramma does sr20 mod and it has to rev really high to get high hp output.. this thread i found strongly supports ka24 cause if u build it right it is just as good as sr20 and more powerful and torquier

Hahahaha....Please don't talk about stuff you dont know. The KA is a torquey engine, and does make respectable power....just does not last long. There is more to an engine than upgrading rods, pistons, bearrings. There is engine design dynamics, which in key the KA was designed for a truck, then used in the altima and 240 as well, where the SR was based on a race car engine design.

FYI. The DE has more tq/hp over the E too.

if i get a 240sx ill stay with ka24de cause swapping in new engine is troublesome and if there are gana be emissions laws and stuff (im in usa) then id rather have a car thats fun and i can drive then a car thats just for looks and illegal on the street. besides why do u think the KA does not last long? if its a truck engine it should last especially long.. cause trucks are built to last.. any engine will last long if u take good care of it.. and i like low end power more then high end power so it all comes down to opinions/desires

also.. if i blow a ka24de i can get anoter for about 500 (US) rather then 2200+(US) for an sr

Do what u want with the KA I'm not stopping you, just dont say stuff you don't know about and pollute others minds.

Trust me my SR "fun" and is 100% torquey and has low end power no problem. Please do more research before posting your wisdom. You don't even own a 240?!!!!
