Question 1989 Nissan quote:

1989 Nissan Pintara, 4cylinder RWD 2Litre

Only 3 of 4 cylinders firing, checked spark plugs and leads
Not very familiar with cars bit of a noob!

been told possible fuel injector blocked or stuffed

does anyone have any idea of what my problem may be?

If its something engine related, ive had the car 2 weeks and the engine had 2 yrs warranty when i got it so im not too fussed if its something different it may get costly

also does anyone know where i could find online resources for my nissan e.g. diagrams, manuals etc

thanks

Considering I have the same car, and this is a Candian based forum - I wouldn't be too surprised if nobody can help you. Our car is, I believe, the same as a Nissan Stanza back in Canada.

The problem itself I would imagine would be fairly universal, one cylinder being sketchy for some reason - happens to numerous types of cars...

My advice is go to a mechanic and get a quote, find out what they think is wrong - and how much it'll be to fix it. On here you won't get too much help - you'll have to take it into a mechanic anyways regardless...

Also - more advice to ensure your pintara doesn't die...change your oil pump, pintara's have a nasty habit of leaking ALOT of oil, faulty factory pump - replace that and you shouldn't leak oil (if you are) anymore.....unless it's happened already.

Hope that helps in some way... Just go to a mechanic and get them to figure it out.

fuel injector quote:

hi there mate, thanks for the suggestion, i am unfortunately in no position financially at the moment to take it to a mechanic which doesnt help things too much, but with the help of some other local adelaide ppl online i have tracked the problem back to one of the fuel injectors..... its apparently a reasonably cheap part to fix and i can do it myself

thanks for the tip on the oil pump that was leaking so ill tend to that straight away

catchya thanks for ya help again

No problem buddy I've only had to replace a few things on my 'tara, clutch - spark plugs - filters - head work - rack and pinion (twice ) - brake pads - tires - oil pump ... But thats to be expected on a 270,000 km car

These things should last you forever, if anything breaks, parts are pretty cheap ... But yea that oil pump should fix that oil problem up - random problem with Pintara's...Bloody factory

Do an SR20DET swap on it ! bolts straight up , sleeper

No, you could get the SR20DET in the Primera, we only got the non-turbo cars. I always wanted to do a DET swap into an old g20.. that could be fun.
