from Road and Track DEC.

anyone heard about this machine?

they are saying it will come with

170hp 4cyl FF / 200hp 4cyl FF / and maybe 3.2liter V6 AWD.

I love my Honda.. but some VWs are really sick!!

I might consider that, especially since the grille is done so much better than the new Jetta or Golf...

Love the old Corrado, doen't look like it have a huge engine so pricing should be GTI ish, depending on perf should be a good looking value.

You would buy it because of the grill?? ok....

Anyways, there is a lot of speculation about this car. Next to the picture it reads: Photo illustration by Larson so I think its a photo chop. There is also a picture of a 2008 Tiburon concept car that it looks like someone just took that, changed the headlights, and slapped a VW badge on it.
If they do come out with a new Corrado, I sure hope it compares to the old ones... a Corrado with an R32 swap sounds pretty cltuch

I hope it's the new Corrado, i've been hoping for this for a long long time. If it looks like that then i'm already saving my pennies!

Of course it's a chop, there's no way they'd make the roofline so low, it's not a super expensive car, it will be higher volume and they wouldn't be able to afford to build a car with little rear visibility, they wouldn't sell enough.

It's real enough, and I like it!

Meh. I never did like the Corrado or Scirocco. GTI and VR6's are interesting though. VW finally got somethings right with the new Jetta (maybe the Passat as well) and that's about it.

They want to try and sell this thing across too many price ranges. From a 1.4L 4-cyl. to something that will compete with BMW and Porsche? This could be another Phaeton story or the first Corrado story all over again. They should probably lose the Corrado name to start.

Corrado > GTi
And any of the older generation VW's are better than the MK5's. The new Jetta looks like a Toyota.

Also, a GTi is a car and a VR6 is a motor. You can get the VR6 in a Rado. And the original Corrado competed with the Porsche 944, so that isn't too far fetched.

Actually if I recall correctly, the Corrado was FASTER than a 944 in one of the old magazine comparos (I dont know if it was road and track, motor trend, or car and driver). Also for it's time (early 90's) it was one of the best handling cars out there and best looking (still is in my opinion). I really dont want to see VW make a new Corrado, the original to me is a classic and was a great car despite being massivly overpriced and I want it to stay that way.

Looks good, however shares very little with the orginal corrado, plus the cost would be insane.

I have seen much better concepts of the "NEW" corrado.

Man am I behind on these threads...

That thing looks terrible, if it IS in fact a next generation Corrado (or if its even real, there have been "New Corrado" speculations ever since the last generation was stopped) they should definitely rename it.
