I'll probably get flamed for this but I like Ralph. I think he's a man of the people (minus the little drunken incident at the homeless shelter) I think he genuinely likes people. Most politicians, at least in Ottawa I don't think really give a damn about the average working Joe. They're wrapped up in the 'politics' and not the people who they're supposed to represent. I think Ralph's a good ole boy that way!

If you're referring to the fact that he's pressing charges, he has every right to do so. Especially since he's a government official. He said it best when he said that if they let him go that gives everyone the go-ahead to pie anyone.

i really like ralph. he's done a great job with our economy. our province is booming. look around us, none of the other provinces in canada are doing as good as we are. and i agree with b17a, he actually cares about the average working joe. unlike the other politicians in ottawa, they could really care less about me, or you or anybody else other than themselves.

That's cuz Klein used to be an average working joe. He had little to nothing at one point. I always get this story from my family that my great-grandfather was Klein's godfather and helped him off his feet when he was younger. :dunno:

As much as I like the guy and think he's doing a decent job, I think he's been put into a lucky situation where Alberta is doing well. Not to say that he doesn't know what he's doing, but I think lucky times has a part to do with his success.

True, he's got a good province to work with but he's kept a level head. Any other politician would have used us (Albertans) as a springboard to a Federal posting. Which basically means, bend over while I take advantage of you for my own career gains! :D

I'm not really sure that he has been as lucky as you make it sound. He was not the premier during the oil boom in the 1980s, yet Don Getty fucked things up pretty bad even with Alberta's wealth. Undoubtedly, however, Alberta is a rich province, but there have been other premiers who could not do as much as Klein did, even though they had a lot more to work with.

Ralph Klein helps fund my education, so he's all good to me. He's done a great job for Alberta as most politicians run away from the truth. No matter who we have in office everyone will either agree or disagree. Not everyone will be happy and agree with all the decisions. But the government that's running in Alberta is doing as good as a job as any. Klein is trying get U.S. investors into Canada, no other politician is doing that. He's looking out for the province, and protecting it from the National Liberal party that has an agenda about promoting the east and not taking advantage of resources on the west.

Klein is a fucking tool, he deserved alot worse than a pie in the face. Alberta had the oppurtunity to be the home of a huge technical school similar to MIT, Ralph turned it down, his government has not take the proactive approach to expand Albertas economy so whats going to happen when all the oil is gone? Alberta will be screwed! He was also for the war against terrorism , what a terrible thing that woudl have been to be a part of that war.
Alberta is the richest province in Canada? Why are tuitions fees going up? My Tuition was $1200 this semester in Ontario, why so cheap? Because the Ontario government has collaberated with auto manufacturers to help fund my school (Canadian Automotive Institute), more of that needs to happen otherwise people will be heading elsewhere to work ehrn they graduate.The guys a redneck drunk who should have never become our premier..in my humble opinion anyways:D

Also can't forget that Ottawa makes Alberta pay equality payments (I think that's what they're called) based on percentage of income for the province. Since Alberta makes a ton of money from oil, beef and agriculture, Alberta pays a huge sum of money that goes to the smaller Maritime provinces that don't have the resources we do. They get the money, while Alberta gets nothing but a litter wallet.

Of course, most of this is coming frmo stuff I learned in Social 30 back in the day so it's probably wrong in some areas.

Not meant to be an insult but.....I'm glad they didn't spend money on an Automotive program here. What auto industry do we have in Alberta? Even if you did your program here, you'd have to work in Ontario so what kind of investment is that? Just wondering.:dunno: And Ontario university tuition is no longer subsidized (much) by the gov't hence the Queen's $4G's. At least we still get a couple nickels out here.:thumbsup:

What school in Ontario do you goto that has $1200 tuition? Do you know why tuition goes up? It's because the schools have to pay for basic bills like electricity, water... all that stuff cause those costs rise, then they have to keep money around to upgrade the libraries, computers, and facilities all for your benefit, then the profs who are tenured get a raise in salary every year. To keep the top profs, you have to pay. And if you're complaining about your $1200 tuition, my tuition is only $21 000 U.S. so quit your complaining. I paid more for one year then you will pay for your four years so take it in stride.

What he does is his business. I'm sure a lot of people gamble. It's neither illegal nor immoral.

And he is hardly milking alberta for all of it's resources. All past premiers have used oil revenues to finance our expenditures, if that's what you are talking about. Our province consistently outperforms all other provinces in many aspects. Teachers are the best paid in Canada, despite their crying. Taxes are the lowest in Canada. Alberta is studied by every province in Canada as a model province. It is even studied by many U.S. states as a prime example of how a state should be run.

Hardly an uneducated man if I see it right...

Who do you think is helping float provinces like say Nova Scotia with 20% unemployment rates and decreasing population bases? Hello Quebec? They are the biggest recipient of Alberta Transfer Payments because they want soverignty when it comes to deciding whats best for Quebec, but when it comes to paying the tab for these decisions, oh wait, we need money, viva le Canada!
