installing a new chra ?

i am installing a new chra on my garrett gt2876r my ? is i am having a problem getting the exhaust housing seperated from the chra. is there something i am not aware of to remove the housing and is this common ? thanks for any info !

I haven't done it on a Gt28xx but in the ones I have done I kept the compressor housing intact. heated the turbine housing up and tapped the CHRA/compressor side off with a block of wood and a hammer.

keeping the compressor housing installed ensures you don't bang up or bend any fins when the housing potentially falls off. it also serves as material for you to hit with your block of wood/hammer.

edit: yes it is very common for that part to remain fused together. just imagine all the heat/cool cycles a used turbo has to go through. and imagine what that would do to the metals involved. then toss in some rust to the equation.
