Has anyone seen the new honda tuning magazine? Some guy in canada has done a j swap in his ek.

I am very impressed first time i have even heard of this.

What are your opinions?

I think it would be pretty cool to drive but never in my life would i invest money or time into doing it.

Why spend that much money and then not paint the engine bay hahah. But honestly even my legend has enough oomph to break the tires loose in second and it's an automatic. Would be fun to have an even stronger 6 in a civic.

looks like it was resprayed red or kept that way, owner must have liked it i guess.

me not so much, i woulda opted for paint matched engine bay

Actually if you look at the bay it is shaved and tucked and was fully resprayed.

The bay being a different color is in right now. I have seen some with more than 1 color in the bay as well.

The J swap has been done for about a year and a half now and Hasport even sells a kit for it.

It is a very potent swap but I would think that unless you want something N/A and you want it to go in a straight line it is not the way to go.

It is a bit too heavy and affects the balance so it's not made to handle quite as well as something with a smaller engine. It also is quite cramped in the bay with it in place so it would make it quite challenging to turbocharge or supercharge.

I like the idea but I wish the engine was slightly smaller and actually fit properly under the hood.

I still think the K series is vastly superior in all aspects.

i agree. K before J.

But i am curious to what it would feel like to drive.

That's interesting, this is the first time I've heard about a V6 swap into a civic. Heh I remember joking about this to a friend back in the day, and he would just give me this look as if I was :nut:.

You think thats a joke. I had a friend back home trying to convince me to do an s2000 swap in my ek back in the day haha.

Would that even be possible?

Sebasshole
11-18-2009, 02:17 PM
anythings possible. But would it be worth it? prolly not. I would just do the swap in forza and call it a day.

from driving and working on tons of J series 6s, a plain jane j32a1 would be such a waste of $ imo even in an ek and A2s dont fall short either, if it was a A3 however w/lsd (all UA6/7 owners especially 6spds know how extreme the tq steer can be) it would quite the fun car.

I bet, like I said there's quite a bit of torque steer even in my Legend. I know it's not the quickest by far but it's definitely got some get up and go when I need it. That kind of torque in a civic could be nothing but fun hahaha.

Yeah there's been F swaps into Civics. I think they can use K series trans, but I'm not 100% sure.

Don't like the engine showing through the hood on a J swap? Stick a pro stock hood scoop on it.

I figure F swaps would be easier than a V6 engine for a civic, but I don't really know my Hondas so I can't really say, haha.

it has been done already by a company called TAG racecraft.
this ek has been around for at least 5 years now.

I also have a few pics of an EG with f20 swap, rear wheel drive. the guy is from Quebed i think and he brought the car to Darknights a long time ago

I just recently heard about a G23 motor, where you take the F accord block mate with H series vtec head and use k20 pistons. Supposedly it fits all together nicely and makes quite a potent engine. :dunno:

The possibilities are endless and apparently I spend too much time on Honda forums because none of what has been mentioned here sounds even remotely new to me :P

You guys call me when they swap an RB26 into a civic :P

HAHA weird!! Thats Phils car. I just met up with him at a timmies meet a couple days ago in Mississauga Ontario.

The car is nice, and it is fast stock for stock. But not CRAZY fast like everybody thinks. And Mr. ET is right these swaps aren't anything new.

As for the f20 ek. Thats not even streetable its a drag car, i dont think its possible to make a street legal f20. BUT WE CAN TRY, LETS PULL IT OUT OF MY S2K!...........................only kidding.

Now new topic. Who wants to make a j powered go cart!

I have seen 2 F20C EK's and 1 EG and they are quite streetable aside from the crappy trans tunnel.

Should mention what kind of F20 cause the F20B has been done quite a bit in EK's :P

There's several J swaped integra's and Eg's running the states since Hasport made the mount kit.

That EK actually has the HAsport EG mounts welded in. Apparently the tourque steer is intense lol.

This J swap is actually very old...
First company to do the J-swap was in Florida, Power Rev Racing (P2R).

I wonder if there is axle bind or no ground clearance with the new mounting position

Primer_Drift
12-17-2009, 10:25 PM
The J-series is a very tall engine, so somethings gotta give when you put it lower the car - in this case, it's gonna be ground clearance. It would be lower than a K-series by that logic..

So, 2-2.5"ground clearance + aluminium oil pan + speedbump =

Yeah, but you see for as amazing as that accomplishment is, it involves a massive amount of cutting... so what you are left with is a shell that only looks like a honda. If I was going to go to the trouble to convert an EK to a longitudinal platform, I'd throw an AWD transmission in there too.

It is much harder IMO, to make a swap that looks like it could be stock, without hacking the crap out of the car. So in the spirit of that, I'll see your EK+RWD monstrosity and I'll raise you an EK 13B rotary turbo + FWD K-series transmission.
