View Full Version : Safe Amount of Boost? B18b w/T3 Super 60

I have a little Garret T3 Super 60 on the B18b.
Honestly, i have no clue how to read flow charts and ive also read that this turbo wont make huge amounts of power either (which is good enough for me), but should be decent enough.

What would be a good safe amount of boost to run? I want my engine to last at least a season lol.

Specs:
T3 Super 60
Compressor Specs
- 60 Trim compressor wheel
- .42 AR compressor housing
Turbine Specs
- 68 trim turbine wheel
- .48A/R turbine housing

Flow rate is said to be from 33-35lb/min

Suggestions?

Not dyno tuning, right?

Your best bet to find out where to stop would be to race it at the drag strip and compare mph. Just tune it and run it off the wastegate first and see what you trap. Try retuning for a couple psi more and have another go. Assuming you want about 250 to the wheels, in an Integra, probably would be 110mph where you should stop upping the boost.

I plan on getting it tuned. Toma replied back to me

Oh well then just start on the wastegate and stop at close to 250whp, easy. :bigpimp:

How did the B16 you tuned yourself run?

On a really rich basemap lol. I never got around to tuning it haha, and now the engine is done on that car from what i heard.

So you're making this thread because you plan to swap in a new B18 and get it tuned after?

If not, what's the point of making a thread?

I would tune for a specific whp value not boost because that means nothing and all setups/dynos are different.

240-250whp will be reliable and a ton of fun. Bigger injectors will be needed of course and PROPER engine management but you probably already learnt that lesson;)

450cc, and a walbro pump either 190 or 255 lph.

Well everything is on!

Under boost at WOT, my afrs are 10.5-11ish, i cant remember the exact #. Idle is around 15, and part throttle building some boost is around 12-13....

I hope i dont blow it up haha, ive already melted a feed line...

By the way, is it normal for the engine to lean out a rediculous amount after letting off the throttle? Like letting it slow down on its on in gear?

Yes, pretty well all fuel injected cars cut fuel on deceleration while in gear. You should be able to tune a little bit leaner under boost as well. 10.5 is pretty fat

that turbo will run out of steam before you have to worry about your motor

^ what he said. T3 super 60s belong on D series.

Cool, all I wanted was a bit of a performance boost and I guess this turbo should be fine.
