hey guys got my freshly built motor thrown in and running and brought it by toma for the tune!

Car made 315whp and about 300tq dyno sheet will be uploaded soon!

running classic gt2860rs turbo,650cc injectors, BC cams 264 duration both intake and exhaust, BC valve springs and titanium retainers, 91 octane shell gas, boost spiked to 17.5 psi at 4000 revs, and fell down to 14psi by 4500 revs... still awesome power!!

next find a boost controller to stablize the boost through the revs and go back for a tune.

alot of blow by coming from engine due to lack of break in. rings are not fully sealing yet, should get a tiny bit more horse when engine is fully broken in!

all in all way more than expected for how retarded the timing is and considering the boost.... i didn't even think i would make over 300.

What was done to the bottom end? Bore out at all?

As for engine break in how many kms are on the new engine?

TRD_jordan
06-15-2011, 11:00 PM
bottom end is bored out to 2.1L cp pistons and eagle rods, clevite race bearings.

as for kms on break in during tune was about 230km's.

You are probably done sealing rings for the most part.

This should be the nissan dyno thread, mine will be going to Toma in a few weeks.

yup getting there, but the blow by was a sign of not quite fully sealed lol....

what r you running/getting tuned?

we could make this a dedicated nissan dyno thread.

Good numbers. Your rings however should be fully sealed in the first hour of running......hopefully im wrong. Maybe do a compression test.

Oh and btw, im selling my HKS EVC-S if you are interested.

Honestly the first 30 minutes to 1 hr of driving new engine is the most important, keep a constant load and never @ a steady rpm always moving up or down w load.

Just did same bottom end as you, 2871 .64 turbine housing, JWT S3 cams, 550cc injectors, port and polish head and all the rest of it.

Looking to make 330whp on pump gas and then throwing in some 740s and going for higher numbers on high teens boost, hopefully 350ish.

TRD_jordan
06-16-2011, 08:34 AM
Thanks evan! Yeah better numbers than expected hey!!??

Yeah I did the compression test last night and compression is pretty perfect lol!!

But I was told at high rev and high boost engine will burn some oil and blow by up to the 5000km range of kms put on car.... Also I guess because my clearance for the rings is set to the race engine clearance.... When engine is not hot enough oil will blow by as well...

TRD_jordan
06-16-2011, 09:20 AM
Sounds like a nice goal Tom!! I wouldn't mind 350whp but I highly doubt I'll get There with the disco potato! Maybe 320-330 max? If I can stabilize the boost? Lol we will see...

Who filed your rings Jordan? Cp have a spec and that should be the recommended spec to follow.

TRD_jordan

The machine shop. Lol it's with in the cp clearance for race engine.

Yah I didn't realize you were bored that far. The extra displacement helped I think for sure but there was another guy in the other day with a stock sr20 and a 2871 and he made 315 as well.

TRD_jordan
06-16-2011, 10:03 AM
Yeah I think the bore was a really good cheat for that disco turbo! I'm happy with the 315 and quick spool!! It's so hard to stay off the gas! Gt2871 is definitely a better turbo though! That's for sure. How much was the car boosting?

My S15 Sr20 will be on Toma's Dyno tonight :D Stock turbo, stock injectors, hoping to hit 265whp :p

thats some good numbers for that boost for sure and stock motor! was talking to toma after the tune and he was saying how he hasn't tuned a 240/silvia this year that did under 300 on his dyno yet.

Get your 2jz in Bro!!

Word!!

What do you plan on doing with your built motor???

TRD_jordan
06-16-2011, 10:44 AM
Not sure yet... still debating if i just want reliable lasting engine with decent power or aim for 450whp... but 450whp will push the tranny rear end ect.... then that's money.... might as well just build a supra at that point! LOL! =P

hint...hint... of whats next to come.

180drft
06-16-2011, 10:49 AM
haha. Arn't supra build extremely expensive? Partd and labor wise :s

haha thanks man. You wanna drop by for the dyno'ing?? It should be around 5:30. He did partial throttle last night and is doing ful throttle today around 5:30. Should be cool to see how the Haltech works.

OMGWTFBBQ 2STEP! lol

just gotta budget in the next 3-4 years and i'll be set!

How much is a 2JZ block + parts to make 600whp?

TRD_jordan
06-16-2011, 11:18 AM
well i wouldn't be buying a block it will be in the supra already.... just standalone, and a big turbo, fuel system.... and drive it till the engine blows then build it lol.

sr20s14zenki
06-16-2011, 11:19 AM
My 2jz is costing me almost 6k just to get it in the car. Thats me doing all the fabrication and labour myself. 1800 for the engine, 1300 for the mount kit (why waste my time making them) and another 2200 for the haltech. If you get the stock ecu wired in, it could be cheaper, but why bother. The stock harness wont reach anyways, so you are either stuck extending every wire or getting a lhd supra harness ($$$$$$$$$)

Next year the plan is for a borg warner s300 turbo (800$) and a set of 1000cc injectors (600+?) and that should make 500 horsepower all day long. Im already putting in a crazy clutch (not mentioned above) and thats another 600$.

I was told once that " Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go"

I chose the 2jz because its a natural cause and effect that the more you crank out of a smaller engine, the more of a chance you blow it up. Bigger displacement=more distribution of the cylinder pressures to make the same power. And the 2jz is the biggest inline 6 out of the big 4 japanese (rb25, rb26, 2jz,1jz)

exactly!! LOL

i'll get a mk4 supra for less work and just do bolt ons! =) i'm a cheapo and in 3-4 years who knows twin turbo supras might be closer to 9-10k! LOL

But man your 2jz s14 will be one of a kind build! also a plus with the 2jz..... the turbo is on the other side!!! thumbs up for not messing around with down pipe streeing cloumn clearance and no boiling of brake fluid!!

LOL!! 2jz all the way man!! 2jz.........2....j...z.

06-16-2011, 12:54 PM
Thanks yours is looking pretty good too. 315 whp is still quite fun. its plenty for a small car like the s13. The drive home after the dyno is so much fun.

Ahh ha!!! So this is you RZRSHARP_SVX lol. Come watch my car tonight!! It's gonna make Toma a sad Panda haha

Toma
06-16-2011, 04:05 PM
It's gonna be about 8pm before I can get there tonight....

SOmething up with your wastegate solenoid I think.

Kept bumping duty cycle and it did nothing... got to 55%, nothing. 60%... and she spiked to 16 so I let off :dunno:

Tanner has a spare, ask him to wire it in if you wanna raise boost bast 8.8 pounds lol.... so far 226 at just under 9 psi.

Jordan.... not sure about your blow by.

Are you pressurizing the crank case anywhere? Faulty PCV valve?

Rings need load to seat well, but if you already had a few hundred k on it...

But, fuck the car was easy to tune. Fastest sr20 tune yet. lol

TRD_jordan
06-16-2011, 05:20 PM
Mmmmmm yeah I'm looking into checking out the PVC valve. And I never had the chance to put much load on the engine to seat the rings for the few hundred kms.... Anytime I went more than half throttle above 3000 revs car was knocking!

Pcv valve should close under high boost? Cuz there was sblow by coming out the PVC valve and dipstick.

Lolol Toma I loved how you asked.... Who tuned this? Right off the bat hahahahaha I wish I was that good!

But I agree fastest tune ever!!!!

RZRSHARP_SVX
06-16-2011, 08:27 PM
I dont have time to go down to the dyno. I work very long hours. once I get my car fine tuned a little more I will be upping the boost and using my methanol

180drft
06-16-2011, 11:53 PM
Thanks Toma !!!! 273whp 265torque at 14psi lol. Stock injectors/turbo. Will post Dyno sheet soon :D

Heh, now what did i say...280 tops? I was close.

good numbers

180drft
06-17-2011, 06:30 AM
Could of hit 280.

272whp at %85 duty cycle. Had a little more room. Could of used an FPR too...

sr20s14zenki
06-17-2011, 06:32 AM
Meh dont wanna push too hard, thats when you break shit. Even 85% is a bit much IMO.

180drft
06-17-2011, 10:15 AM
85% at like 7,000rpm. It was around high 70's mid rpm range. But that is kinda high.

I can haz 550cc?

sr20s14zenki
06-17-2011, 10:28 AM
Get 650 and call it a day.

Toma
06-17-2011, 10:39 AM
The trubo was starting to dislike life at higher rpm and that ~14 psi.

At 12psi, it was fine, the power was actually FLAT right out to 7000. at 14 psi, the peak went higher, but then fell off hard.

IAT's began to climb fast

I would say we are at the end of the turbo. At sea level, you can get more out of it, but you gotta remember, when you read the compressor map, because of our elevation, we end up at higher pressure ratios at the same boost as a sea level guy.

I wouldn't worry about the injectors unless you upgrade the turbo.

I COULD raise boost through the midrange, and leave it at 12-13 psi in the top end... there is a wee bit of room there.

180drft
06-17-2011, 11:27 AM
Can I have like... 16psi at mid rpms and 12psi at high rpms?

I want my car to act like a rocket lol. Smooth power band is better over all but I love the mid RPM pull better. I kinda want boost to hit hard and fast, could care less if it tappers off lol.

In a month I will be taking out my side feed HKS 555cc injectors and throwing in 740ccs.
I have had these running on the engine for less than 1500km.

Nice numbers, Jordan! It must have had something to do with the tightly matched set of 650's ;) Dynamic matching is key.

Hows the idle?

Oh, and I need some pics of your car :)

TRD_jordan
06-21-2011, 10:10 AM
Lol yes!!! Those injectors are awesome!!! Idle is perfect, even with the high lift cams there is minimal bogging. You are the man Stefan! Lol
