LOL... Why? I dunno, Tanner felt like playing around. He had a car with a blown SR20. Budget was tight, so, in went a "worthless", or better description might be "next to free", KA24de with a used turbo kit, turbo, and injectors out of the old SR motor.

To make the swap even more cost effective, and cause car already had a sr20 harness/computer and power FC, Tanner got the thing to run on all sr electronics.

Look at the distributor ;) Then look at the coil packs. lol. I love unique fun shit like this.

On wastegate pressure, and creeping boost (11 on the top end, 7 down low), it made a honest (best) 287.7 rwhp and 262 tq. Bone stock KA24, 200,000+ km, tiny turbo, upgraded injectors and fuel pump.

First video is of the very first start on with a stock SR20 map, and only injector corrections applied...

Then, the final dyno pull (285 hp)./ Forigve the messy shop, it was a 1am late night thrash.... Sunday
even...ugh

Way better power and torque than SR at same boost.

No replacement for displacement, even if it is a $50 truck motor.

Hey if he wants a little more jam I've got a spare ebay turbo here I'd sell cheap, just to add to the budget-ness of it all. :D

No!!! lol. It's already a decent turbo (not sure what it was, used and cheap), and that's ALL the power he gets till he gets me a IAT sensor,a and he puts some pistons in the thing ;)

We've made more on stock KA's, but they are touch and go how long they last with this many miles at anything over 300hp.

Usually bearing/oiling issues so far lol.

Nice work, this is like high tech redneck engineering.

the best part about this... is tanner has gone through 3 motors in like the last 8 months? replacement KA and Tranny is about 150bucks.. he can pull the old KA and put in the new one and have it running in like 3-4hrs LOL... :poosie:

I tried to make my ka work off sr electronics a few (4-5) years ago and failed...all I could get was idling, might have been a shit pwr fc, never could figure it out, I ended up running an enthalpy ECU and ka harness! Nicely done!
