89 240sx coupe build!

hey guys ! heres my build, hotwheelz gave me some motivation to start a build thread. im not really picture happy, once i get started on something i forget to take pics along the way :P
but anyways. last summer i was driving this.

damage was to much to be worth fixing for a daily,
i initially planned on keeping it and making it a ttrack car, but with race city gone i didnt see a point, that and the fact the passanger side of the car measured almost 4 inches shorted than the driver side ( from hub to hub)
stripped it to a bare chassis, literally haha. thankks to the guys at RPS for their help and using their shop

so a month and a bit went by and i got the itch to find another coupe for a project.

ended up buying this.

this lil sr's packin a gt30 with 28r exhaust housing and a hks adjustable wastegate set to 16psi!!

and this is pretty much where im at currently, only thing left is the motor mounts, tranny mount, fuel lines and the powersteering line that goes to the pump.

previous owner i believe cut out all the rust spots and welded in new pieces and sprayed over where the new pieces were put in.
when either the motor sells or when/wherever i can find room in my garage to put the motor im gunna pull off the fenders, headlights and the rest of the stuff in the engine bay and paint it and the fender wells. theres a couple of spots i might recut out and weld in new pieces again, then respray the front half underneath. but thats if i can find a plasma cutter and a welder and buy a lil space heater to keep the body warm for paint.

woke up fairly early this morning, wanted to try to beat the snow.. well that didnt happen haha. worked through it anyways.

i wrote my self a little note on my garage door to unbolt the tranny mount before pulling. well i kinda forgot about that note after sitting there puzzled for 10 mins wonderin why the hell this thing aint comming out!!

not a hundred percent sure yet, id like to find a s14 front end at some point, but funds are goin towards the motor.

and for the unorigionality part, id love to find a 67 mustang fastback or a late 60's gmc pickup and restore one of those, but i dont have the funds or space or time to dedicate to doing one of the two above

Edit: pretty much dislocated my shoulder last night playin hockey, ill know how severe it is when i get the x-rays back in a couple days therefor wont be able to do much to the car, thiss will probably be the last update for a few weeks at least :(

minor update.
finished taking out the wiring harnesson the passanger side, sanded it down, cleaned the inner fenderwell, removed whole front suspension.

taped up the door/window to cover overspray, put those christmas flyers to good use :nut: haha

ran to crappy tire, got some spray on bedliner to paint the fenderwells.

pm srfart on DW and see if he still has the built ka I had in my silvia back in the day....it had the ams short block setup with arias pistons and ams rods...good for like 600 whp or something like that...had some piston slap but other than that it was a beast of a motor! :poosie:

haha all i have is high school auto body, mechanics and welding. and i pretty much grew up being around cars.
and the place part, my mom gave me until april/may to get it out of the garage :s thank god for winter break bahaha.
and thanks. i hope she turns out the way i have her planned in my head. haha

I never put it on the dyno, in a stripped silvia running like 16#'s I beat up on a gixxer 600 a few times one night...it was pretty quick probably made 400whp or something around there. (I had a .82 3076r)

not bad not bad.
stock block with like 120psi compression HAHA i put down 286 with a slipping clutch, still afairly rich tune @~10.5 psi on the hx35 haha.

there literally is no rust. there were a couple spots that have been cutout and welded in new pieces. but nothing fancy.

ya theres a little bit there.
most of the rust that was in the engine bay came off when i sanded, i was pretty stoked haha.
i know theres some rust starting on the floor pannel on the driver side. ill probably leave it for this year, fix it next winter or somethin.

Will update the thread soon. Should have engine bay all painted tomoro. The only reason i had rust is because idiots spill brake fluid and dont clean it up.

Passenger side is mint. Ah well, all patched now.

yaay haha. what colour you painting the engine bay, im fairly set on painting mine a navy blue metallic.

same thing with mine. cept my mastercylinder decided to randomly blow up after the first night it got cold there a while ago.

finished up putting the front end back together, lower harness is put back into place. was gunna order in my z32 f/r rotors and conversion lines but i think ill toss the stockers on for a lil bit and put that money towards gettin her running.

made about 270 ish rwhp @~7 psi last night. ran into some crazy weird timing issues in the mid-upper rpm. :S ended up cutting the night short.
hopefully tanner/toma figure out why the timing was jumping around so much.

good news first.
picked up a kaaz 2 way :D super stoked. thats going in tomorrow afternoon probably. :D

now the bad news..
spun a bearing..not to sure why yet. oil pan was nice and sparkley though. number 2 i believe was right fucked.

ah shit happens. its a part of this game. at least the pistons and stuff are still good.
needs rods, bearings, crank, a couple other small things.
estimated time of it being finished is a month or so. depending on when we figure out some stuff.

but new plan in store for now until we figure out what to do with my blown motor.
just hope this other motor is toma proof :D

i think its pretty quiet.. ;) ROFL.
i have a kakimoto cat back chillin in my garage. when i get sick of straight pipe or get a few "noise violation" tickets ill probably toss the kakimoto on.
