Just picked up a 3 yr old 5 series for the wife and figured I might as well join a good forum.

What's the best E60 5 series forum out there?

No way, Bimmerforums and Bimmerfest are the best. Hands down better than those other two mentioned.

Bimmerforums has more traffic, but Bimmerfest has a little less BS.

ProjectTechnik is only good for local content.

Ok I will join Bimmerforums and Bimmerfest too.

I am on Audizine/Passat World/VWVortex and they all are good for specific things.

I am sure that the BMW ones are similar. What is the VW Vortex of the BMW world?

I agree, been on Bimmerforums and Bimmerfest for awhile now and I have met a few locals through those two forums. As long as you're not a douche canoe there is always someone willing to help out.

ProjectTechnik is pretty good for the marketplace, and they seem pretty friendly, but being local not as active, might take sometime to get responses.

Bimmerforums... pretty much all the info you'll ever need.

If you need parts (which of course you will) Pelican Parts and GetBMWParts are the best prices and both are reasonably quick.

Maxbimmer - Toronto..I use for parts some times.
Roadfly - informative.
Bimmerfest/Bimmerforum - great also.

Isn't Maxbimmer pretty dead lately? I know DTM Power has been taken over with spam. I have both the Bimmerforums and Bimmerfest Apps on my iPhone. Makes it easy to search for stuff on the go.

I do like ProjectTechnik. Good group of guys and willing to help out of needed.

Couple others not yet mentioned:
UnitedBimmer.com
Bimmerwerkz.com

I buy almost all my Audi stuff from ECS tuning and they now carry BMW parts too. Is Pelican / getBMWParts better?

It's not a "toy" car, its my wifes DD so I want all OEM parts, not looking for red anodized hose clamps etc. :D These sites the standard for parts?

What about "Vag-Com" for BMW is there such a thing?

Coding VW/Audi is pretty easy with it and you can change annoying things like the seatbelt buzzer, remove the required double fob click to unlock all 4 doors, auto windows up on keyfob lock etc.

I want to do all this with the BMW including disabling the retarded tire pressure sensors.

For E60 specific forums, the most comprehensive is by far http://5series.net/. Anything you could ever imagine E60 related, the members on there have discussed it all.

I've been a member since 2005 when I purchased my E60. DIY guides written by members who show you how to install the M-Tech kit, replace a faulty diversity antenna, wheel offsets when purchasing wheels, discuss iDrive software updates, etc.

Certain members have full subscription to the BMW TSIB and will post them up if you ever want to disassemble anything, or need to know a specific part number.

As mentioned above, getbmwparts doesn't ship to Canada anymore.

autopartsway .ca doesn't have everything, but they have a lot, and the best prices (free shipping in Canada over $75)

I don't work for them.

Not true, I ordered a part from GetBMWParts in March 2012.
It is true that they had stopped for a while, due to pressure from BMW Canada, but that was back in 2010.

I have also started getting parts from Rock Auto... cheaper than Pelican and shipping is lightning fast!

Im bias because im an avid PT member, but this couldn't be more far from the truth. In most cases, forum posts are answered usually within minutes of being posted as long as the topic is relevant and/or interesting. Great bunch over there and a couple ticketed mechanics who always share their insight.

Actually, Autoparts way doesnt have the best prices.

I price quoted out a valve cover gasket for an E36 on Autoparts way, and they wanted $36 which was on sale from $50! BimmerSpecialist.ca had the same gasket for $26.99. I did this with other OEM parts too, and Autopartsway was still more expensive

BimmerSpecialist.ca has tons of OEM parts (searchable by part number) for great prices. My last two orders were both over $150 (one was $200+) and on both orders shipping was about $10. And they have 5 day ground shipping. Order Monday, have parts friday!

I dont work for them either, i am just extremley happy with their product inventory, customer service, and prices.

I joined bimmerfest after I got my x3, I like it so far.

BTW, does anyone know a BMW mechanic that I can just shoot a quick question to? I'm looking for the transmission fill plug for my 2004 2.5i x3. For some reason it's not the same as the 3.0i :nut:

I am with E46Fanatics.com, good bunch of guys but not really local. I registered at ProjectTechnik but they must not have liked my "StiffNights.ca" user name as the moderator never activated my account. :( I never bothered to reregistered again as I didn't want to do a multi account. Other than that, from what I saw, it was a nice little forum with locals. :)

PM natty54, he can get you OEM parts among other things. He's a good guy, I bought some ATF from him with no hassle.

Here's his euro drivers thread: LINK (http://www.eurodrivers.ca/forums/showthread.php?19892-Parts-for-sale)
