HiTempguy1
I wouldn't normally post something like this, but I think it is a concept/idea/undertaking that everyone on this forum can appreciate, so why the hell not? ![]() If the mod(s) have a problem with this (or it is in the wrong section), please delete/move it. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects...-said-than-done Rather than end with coles notes, I'll do the TL;DR version up front: -rallying as a motorsport is widely unknown across North America -great strides have been made recently to make it more common in American households -there hasn't "really" been an American documentary of rallying here. The history is quite interesting, especially if you know anything about racing, some of the names that pop up are very intriguing -and finally, a large focus is on someone who did the "impossible". Through years of struggling and perseverance, Chris Duplessis is one of the few Americans to have gotten the necessary backing to get his foot into the WRC, even if only at the Academy level. So, with that out of the way, watch the video, see what you think. If you like it, throw a few bucks Matt's way. He did footage for Rally America last year, and I believe he may have done the camera work at the Pacific Forest Rally in BC with a quad-rotor gyro equipped heli-cam for some crazy shots. A big thing to keep in mind with kickstarter, you will NOT be charged unless the minimum amount of backing is acquired (~$40k). Thanks guys!

I like it, and if I wasn't going to bed I would send some $$. I will look into it more tomorrow.

In only 4 days, we're already 20% of the way there with 26 days left to go! And finally, to sweeten the deal, if you donate $76 or more (with proof of purchase) I will give a ride on the next rally test day to the 1st three people to do so. The test day is *May 20th (to be confirmed) near Cochrane. All you have to do is show up at 9 in the morning and I will take you for a full on blast in an actual rally car at race speed :bigpimp:

I love Rally Racing... but never been able to pursue it because the costs and time commitments are so daunting. The sport really needs more coverage and exposure here in N/A, I fully support this kind of thing! Kicked in $150 bones towards the project, would love to do a ride along with you

Drive a rally car - in a real rally. Go nuts here and we will organize a 2WD Rally car rental, help with licensing, have a top driver coach you for half a day and then you will enter and drive a Rally all on your own. Completely legit, we've been around the block a few times with these and can ensure you will be treated like an old pro. Includes rally rental, spares, tires, licensing, hotel and coaching and advice from a top driver. Not only that, but we will film your first event and include it as a special feature on the DVD. You would be responsible for the refundable damage deposit on the race vehicle.

Resurrected RA and Sugarphreak, you've been PM'd. Bump this up, one more spot still available if you donate $76 or more. Just had the car tuned on a dyno, making way more low end torque and significantly more top end power :bigpimp: Did I mention that I drive in a spectacular/crazy fashion and can give a running commentary of what's going on while I do it? Trust me, these ride alongs are entertaining! Even though it's a Talon, it'll fit anybody that's ~240 pounds or less and under 6' 3", so never fear, you WILL fit :D The passenger seat is pretty tight though, you aren't supposed to move around, so the skinnier the better

In case anyone is wondering what they are getting themselves into: she's battle hardened, which means I beat on it harder than most. - rebuilt motor with JE forged pistons - DMS 50mm struts (recently rebuilt!) - a forced performance EVO3 16g - HKS 264 CAMS, - RC 550 injectors - 2g MAS with Super AFC and HKS III boost controller. - ACT 2100 clutch Car makes about 250hp at the crank, and over 300tq's (around 325). The hp is extremely limited as we run a 34mm diameter restrictor on the inlet of the turbocharger. Peak tq and hp is around 3500rpm, and falls off steadily from there

Looking forward to it, mind if I bring along my GoPro? :D
Resurrected RA
I don't seem to have the PM you mentioned earlier.

$13 bucks for a 1080p download is good value! rally isn't really my thing, but i couldn't resist that! looks like it'll be a good film.

Pledged $76, shared on facebook, and spread across some forums. Hopefully they make that goal, this is something that I think needs to get out there. Long ways to go

It is an HD Hero 960, I don't think it has an audio-in option on it. None the less, it still takes awesome HD footage, have been having a blast with it lately.

Bump bump! Ken Block wants YOU to donate! You wouldn't say no to Ken, would you? https://twitter.com/#!/kblock43/status/199586090691198978 One more spot still available for the ride along, I know you guys want to. Just ordered over a grand worth of new tires, should be a good time.

It's getting close. Come on guys!

Upped my pledge, spammed the link to a few friends. Come on guys!

If Diesel2005 would pay up his debt(http://forums.beyond.ca/st/353343/c...arding-our-bet/), I would contribute that and double it for the last spot for the ride along. As far as the ride along goes, I would figure out some sort of contest or something so someone else could go, I'm not available on the scheduled date of the ride along.

They made it! and still 8 hours to go. Can't wait to see this thing, plus the Signed Poster, 1080p Download, DVD and the T-Shirt:thumbsup: Someone pledged the $8400 for the rally lesson, guess that's where most the ground was made up. Awesome
Sugarphreak
Wow, that is freaking awesome! Long live Rally!
Resurrected RA
I just got the update, that is cool!

Can't wait! Ill miss my ride along but I still get the t-shirt poster and copy of the movie. Well worth it to help fund it.

Thanks for a great day out, was an absolute blast! Some photos I snapped out on the course: You can find the entire album at: http://s211.photobucket.com/albums/...mview=slideshow ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Pretty sure Nick is humoring me, but his stroking of my ego doesn't hurt :D It was awesome having you out, btw, you take wicked go-pro video, all of your shots out of the car were juuuust right! And for everyone else to enjoy the fun, some pretty awesome (as in terrible) driving filmed in car. I was kind of screwing around, in case anyone doesn't notice. Sure was a blast though! The final run of the day, Jeff and I ran a 2:50 time. The benchmark of rallying in Western Canada, Hardy Schmidtke, ran around a 2:45.
Sugarphreak
Bringing the GoPro was such a good idea :D Thanks for letting my stick it all over your car for the day, I was able to stitch together the entire stage with different angles.
HiTempguy1
A short clip of Nick and I launching off the start, probably the best start of the day (car doesn't spool until after 3k rpm, full boost at 3800rpm, makes launching tricky).

Guys, that looks like WAY too much fun. Great job on the videos as well.
