Not a factory works effort, but the E class is going to be a V8 supercar next year. Private team will be purchasing powerplants and bare chassis from AMG.

All of a sudden, the E classes doesn't look so old man's car anymore haha. Can't wait to see her run Bathurst.

I don't understand.. Why an E-Class? I feel like the body of the car would just handle awfully regardless of what they do to it. My uncle has a E550 and taking that thing into a corner feels like your driving a hurse.

Those V8's are fun to watch:

Volatile Aussies + Powerful cars + Private teams with lots of money and rivalries = great racing.

Those guys are not scared to play bumper cars :)

The body of the car has nothing to do with it's handling. They probably choose the E class because it fit within the V8 super car rules. The supercar will share nothing with your uncle's E550 except for how the car looks.

Definitely going to be lots of fun, the Aussie V8 series is the perfect fit for AMG.
