Good work on Alonso's part, I've got FP2 back in the background. I hope he keeps it up.

RB8 will be 1-2 in quail later tonight. Where will Alonso be is the big question...

Red Bull 1-2 with Alonso 3rd is my prediction. Rumor is all of the big three (Ferrari, Mclaren, Red Bull) were sporting DDRS in Free practice yesterday, supposedly Ferrari's won't be quali/race ready till India though so it looks like Alonso is going to be doing damage control this weekend.

Not terribly worried about McLaren yet. Hamilton set the 3rd fastest time of the day in FP1 when the track was still green, only 3/10ths slower than the Red Bulls. Everyone improved while he went backwards. They're going to be up there tonight in qualifying.

Webber on pole followed by Vettel, Hamilton and Alonso. Alonso is right behind Vettel on the dirty side of the track. Should be a good race tomorrow.

Hamilton didn't get the temps up and had a scrappy lap. Then McLaren decided that it was probably good enough haha. Yup, was kinda scary there lol.

Karthikeyan given the go-ahead
Saturday 13th October 2012

Karthikeyan given the go-ahead
Narain Karthikeyan will contest Sunday's Korean GP after the stewards gave him permission despite his failure to qualify.

The HRT driver slid and spun his way out of qualifying in the first segment before so much as putting a banker lap on the board.

As a result Karthikeyan needed permission from the stewards to race and was given it based on his 'performance shown in practice.'

Speaking about his brief showing in qualifying, he said: "We were in quite a good position after the third free practice sessions as I'd adapted very well to the circuit and the car was performing great.

"But once again I was unlucky this season and we had a mechanical issue on the first lap of qualifying. Now we must analyze the problem to fix it and avoid it from springing up again.

"Tomorrow we will try to recover those positive vibes."

According to Coulthard, the retardation is with Karthikeyan.

3 mechanical failures for Hamilton in 3 races. What a way to fight for the championship.

Still surprised McLaren didn't retire the car. It didn't even drive straight for 2/3 of the race down the front straight.

Looks like Ferrari might be able to fight going forward. Vettel completely destroyed his tires and Massa could've caught Webber, Alonso couldn't seem to find the same pace Massa had though.

More like I was excited at the prospect of seeing a race where Vettel didn't lead the race throughout and celebrate like he climbed Mt Everest as some of the other guys have been saying... of course that was exactly what happened though

Hamilton's battles with Raikkonen, Grosjean, Hulkenburg and the Toros was fun to watch. I think he provided the most entertainment for the whole race!

Hahah the astro turf was too good. Yea aside from Vettel's first turn move on Webber, it was another easy win for him. Webber must have been crushed that he got by so early/easily. I was really hoping Massa would challenge Alonso for 3rd but that didnt seem to materialize.

Even if Massa had the pace, Ferrari wouldn't allow it.
They wouldn't even allow it when it was against the rules, so now that they're allowed, I don't see Felipe finishing another race ahead of Alonso the rest of his career.

Too bad that he seems really determined to continue with Ferrari, if he showed this kind of pace a bit earlier in the season he could've gotten a good seat at a different team that doesn't seem dead set against having him win.

I think the possibility of retiring with Ferrari is better than being a #1 driver at Williams or Sauber for a lot of drivers. It would be for me.

I have nothing to contribute to the Korea GP, as I fell asleep halfway through. Worst race of the year so far.

Ferrari really screwed Massa's image by using his car as a guinea pig to test parts earlier in the season... he wasn't really driving the same car as Alonso, which explained his lack of pace at most of the year. I am glad he is doing well, but no race driver likes to be told to stay behind his teammate.

I was so hoping to hear a "Felipe is faster than you... " radio call on sunday. But alas, of course NOT given the close title race.

Oh well.
